SodaHead Partners With Technorati
Los Angeles-based Sodahead, the online question and answer site backed by Mission Ventures, Mohr Davidow Ventures, and the Tech Coast Angels, said Monday that it has tied together in a strategic partnership with Technorati. AWR Trumpets Financial Performance
El Segundo-based AWR, a developer of high frequency, electronic design automation software, is trumpeting its financial performance today, saying it had "record annual revenues" for its fiscal year ended March 31st. The privately held firm, which did not disclose its actual financials, said the record year came in spite of the worldwide recession. QLogic, Emulex Both Tie Into HP Blade System
Both Aliso Viejo-based QLogic and Costa Mesa-based Emulex, provider of host bus adapters and related storage networking products, have tied into a new HP blade server system, the HP BladeSystem Matrix. 3n Becomes Everbridge
Los Angeles-base 3n Global, a provider of emergency notification and mass calling services, said Monday that the firm has renamed itself as Everbridge. According to the firm, the name change will "better reflect" the company's portfolio of solutions. The name change is actually the second for 3n, which was formerly known as National Notification Network.

Buzz Media Inks Deal with Magazine
Los Angeles-based Buzz Media, the online network of celebrity-focused web sites, announced today that it has inked a deal with OK! Magazine. OK! Magazine is a celebrity news magazine and website. Buzz Media--which was formerly known as BuzzNet--is a venture backed operator of a network of pop culture, celebrity, and music-focused web content properties and blogs. H2O Audio Raises $1M
San Diego-based H2O Audio has apparently raised around $1M in funding, according to a recent regulatory filing. H2O Audio is a developer of waterproof housings for MP3 players like the Apple iPod and other digital music players, which can be used while swimming, snorkeling, diving, or other water sports. Qualcomm Gets Danish Win
San Diego-based Qualcomm reported today that the firm has licensed its FLO modulator software, part of its technology for enabling broadcast TV transmission to mobile phones, to a Danish firm, ProTelevision Technologies (ProTV). Financial impact of the licensing deal was not disclosed. SpotRunner Sued By Investor
Los Angeles-based SpotRunner, a venture-backed firm which helps businesses place television advertising, is the target of a lawsuit from investor WPP, according to a report from AdAge. According to the report and copies of the lawsuit posted to the Internet, WPP alleges that Spot Runner is in a breach of a legal agreement with WPP, and used the firm as part of a "pump and dump" scheme to find new investors. iRise Claims Big Revenue Gains
Privately held, software visualization tool firm iRise, which is based in El Segundo, is claiming this morning that it has seen its software revenues for Q1 triple over last year. The firm said the big revenue gains follow a fiscal Q4 where its revenues surpassed its total 2007 revenues. Venture Capital Hits 12 Year Low
The latest venture capital numbers from both PricewaterhouseCoopers/NVCA based on data from Thomson Financial, and numbers also released over the weekend by Dow Jones VentureSource, finds that venture capital is at a twelve year low. The two, quarterly capital reports both found that venture volume dropped in the first quarter, with PwC/NVCA reporting $3.0 billion in 549 deals nationally, and Dow Jones VentureSource reported $3.90 billion across 477 deals. SpaceX Delays First Commercial Launch
Hawthorne-based SpaceX, the commercial rocket venture of Elon Musk, has hit a snag in its first commercial launch, saying this morning that the firm has delayed an upcoming launch of its rocket, due to a "potential compatibility issue" between the firm's rocket and the RazakSAT spacecraft it is supposed to deliver to orbit. Hydra Partners On Page Optimization
Los Angeles-based Hydra, an online advertising network, announced this morning that the firm has partnered with OnDialog, a firm focused on marketing optimization programs. According to Hydra, the deal will give it access to landing page optimization technology from SiteTuners, to help the firm's clients see better conversion rates on their advertising campaigns. Irvine-based Sendio, a developer of e-mail security appliances, said Monday that the firm has partnered with TKC Integration Serviecs, LLC (TKCIS), a contractor that serves the federal government. Marshal8e6 Names CEO
Orange-based Marshal8e6, a developer of web filtering and email security products, disclosed this morning that it has appointed a new CEO, John Vigouroux. According to Marshal8e6, Vigouroux joins from Finjan, where he was President and CEO. He has also served at Tumbleweed Communications, Valicert, Cisco, Adobe, and GE Information. Vigouroux is from Silicon Valley; the firm did not say if Vigouroux will relocate to Orange County with his appointment.
