Internet Brands Buys Two Websites, Targets Money and Finance
Los Angeles-based Internet Brands is expanding its network of vertically focused web sites, saying Wednesday that the firm has acquired two new websites in the money and finance area, and has officially targeted "Money and Business" as one of the firm's key vertical markets. Internet Brands said it has acquired Finweb.com, a site focused on personal finance, and SmallBusinessNotes.com, which provides advice to small business owners. Boingo Updates Customer Service Site
Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless, which operates a network of wireless access points through relationships with local Wi-Fi providers, told its users Wednesday that the firm has upgraded its customer service site. According to the firm, users can now reset their own password, and email invoices and receipts to themself. The firm said the new email invoice feature should help users who need access to receipts for expense or tax reporting.

QLogic Rumored As Acquisition Target
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, a developer of host bus adapters and switches for the storage networking market, is rumored to be the target of an acquisition by data storage giant EMC, according to Barron's. The unsubstantiated rumor comes a week after Broadcom launched a hostile bid for competing Irvine-based storage networking hardware maker Emulex. Ixia Expands Into Virtualization Testing
Calabasas-based Ixia, a provider of network testing tools and systems, has expanded its suite of applications to take on the growing area of data center virtualization. Ixia announced a new product suite, IxVM, targeted at assessing virtual infrastructure performance and capacity. Fonality Claims Growth, Cash Flow
Culver City-based Fonality, a developer of commercial PBX phone systems based on open source software, is trumpeting "strong financial results" today, claiming that it was cash flow positive in March and has seen a 102 percent annual growth rate. Buzz Media Names Citron President
Los Angeles-based Buzz Media, which operates a network of online media sites focused on celebrities and music, disclosed this morning that it has tapped former TMZ general manager Alan Citron as its new President. According to Buzz Media, Citron will oversee programming, marketing, engineering, and product development at the firm. Citron has been advising Buzz Media since August of 2008. Eucalyptus Systems Lands $5.5M
Santa Barbara-based Eucalyptus Systems, a developer of software for managing cloud computing infrastructure, has scored $5.5M in a Series A funding round. The firm said the funding was led by Benchmark Capital, along with participation by BV Capital. Eucalyptus is developing open source software for managing deployment on cloud computing infrastructure such as Amazon AWS; the software is a spinout of the University of California, Santa Barbara. CrownPeak Takes On Social Media
Los Angeles-based CrownPeak has set its sights on the social media space, saying this morning that it has launched a new product which publishes content into social networking sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
