NextWave Switches Up Execs, Focuses On PacketVideo
San Diego-based NextWave Wireless, a developer of wireless semiconductor technology and owner of a number of wireless spectrum licenses, said late Tuesday that the company is shifting its focus almost entirely to its PacketVideo subsidiary. The firm said that the move comes as part of its plan--announced in Q3 of last year--to divest or discontinue its wireless semiconductor and network equipment businesses. D-Link Swizzles Exec Staff
Fountain Valley-based D-Link, a manufacturer of computer networking hardware, disclosed Tuesday afternoon that it has reorganized its senior management team, saying that it has appointed Carlos Casassus Fontecilla as president of the firm's North and South American operations. Fontecilla was formerly in charge of the firm's Latin America operations. D-Link also appointed Nick Tidd as both VP of Sales, Pan America, and VP of Marketing for North America. Teresis Adds To Board
Santa Ana-based Teresis Media Management revealed Tuesday that the firm has tapped B. J. Hawkins, President and CEO of technology services firm OFS, for its board of directors. Teresis provides workflow and digital asset management software for the entertainment and broadcast industry. Hawkins prior experience includes stints at Cummins Engine Company and Westinghouse, where she was a senior executive. Teresis is angel backed by the Tech Coast Angels and Pasadena Angels.

Illumina Sues Affymetrix
San Diego-based Illumina, a developer of life sciences and genetic analysis systems, disclosed Tuesday that it has filed a patent infringement suit against competitor Affymetrix. According to Illumina, the suit--filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin--seeks to enjoin Affymetrix from making and selling the firm's HT Array Plate and Scanner products. Broadcom Offers $764M To Emulex Stockholders
Irvine-based Broadcom said Tuesday that it is taking its bid to acquire Emulex directly to its stockholders, and has launched a tender offer to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Emulex, in a deal worth approximately $764M. The offer came one day after being rejected by the board of directors of Emulex in its hostile bid. LeisureLink Gains Distributor
Pasadena-based LeisureLink, which operates an online booking service for vacation rentals and specialty lodging, has inked a deal with website provider GTP Travel Group. According to Cleveland-based GTP Travel Group, it will distribute LeisureLink's service to on its web sites, GroupTravelPlanet.com, and CoachQuote.com, as well as on third party sites. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. GTP Travel Group automated group booking of travel, including hotels and buses.

RealD Ships New 3D Projector
Los Angeles-based RealD, a provider of 3D projectors for movie theaters, said this morning that it has shipped a new, 3D projector targeted at the small screen. According to RealD, the new product--its RealD LP--is aimed at use in conference rooms, museum exhibits, educational uses, virtual rides, and entertainment attractions. Webalo Upgrades Mobile Enterprise Software
Los Angeles-based Webalo is reporting today that it has upgraded its software, used to create mobile enterprise applications. According to the firm, its new software includes new wizard-style interfaces for creating smartphone applications, a way to use web scraping to create smartphone interfaces, and less need for proprietary software development. VMIX Targets VARs
San Diego-based VMIX, which provides white-label software for hosting and distributing digital video, said this morning that it has launched an effort to attract value added resellers. According to the firm, it has launched a channel platform which will allow channel providers to distribute its products, including collecting monthly service revenues and managing the end user relationship.
