Maxwell Technologies Raises $17.6M
San Diego-based Maxwell Technologies reported Tuesday that it has sold approximately $17.6M in a common stock offering, underwritten by Roth Capital Partners. The publicly traded firm, which trades on the Nasdaq as MXWL, said the funding will go towards working capital and general corporate purposes. Maxwell is a developer of ultracapacitors for the energy market, along with microelectronics for the defense and commercial markets, and other energy and power-related components.

Business.com Boosts Analytics
Santa Monica-based Business.com, which provides online directories for B2B purchasing, announced today that the firm has launched a new tool to help advertisers access pay-per-click metrics on the site. According to the firm, the new Business.com Conversion Tracking tool has been in beta since March, and is now available to all of its advertisers. MeLLmo Visualizes Data Via iPhone
San Diego-based MeLLmo, a firm developing mobile applications, said Tuesday that it has launched a new application it is calling RoamBi, which allows users to view and analyze data from spreadsheets, tables, and reports via Apple's iPhone. The firm said its application--which also connects into Force.com's AppExchange and Salesforce.com CRM reports--is different from "inefficient, clunky, shrunken-down versions" of desktop applications and takes advantage of the iPhone's multi-touch display. EdgeCast Signs Latin America Partner
Los Angeles-based content delivery network provider EdgeCast Networks is announcing today that it has signed on a new, Latin American partner. According to EdgeCast, it has signed a deal to interconnect Samba Tech, a provider of rich media content management in Latin America, with its content delivery network. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Newegg Sues Kohl's Over Trademark
City of Industry-based Newegg, a major online electronics and computer retailer, said today that it has sued retailer Kohl's Corporation for trademark infringement and unfair competition. Newegg said that its lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, alleges that Kohl's use of the slogan "The More You Know, The More You Kohl's" is a misappropriation of Newegg's own slogan "One You Know, You NewEgg." Nirvanix Names New Engineering VP
San Diego-based cloud storage services provider Nirvanix reported Tuesday that it has hired Chris Russell as vice president of engineering. Nirvanix described Russell as a longtime technology executive with more than 20 years of hands-on experience. Nirvanix said Russell hails from NextEngine, where he was vice president of technology. Tech Coast Angels: $100M Invested
The Tech Coast Angels is reporting this morning that its members have now invested a total of $100M in Southern California companies, since it started in 1997. The angel investing group said the $100M was invested in more than 150 California-based companies, and included firms in the life sciences, software, Internet, biotechnology, media, business services, and consumer products areas. Fulham Lights Up With $10M
Hawthorne-based Fulham, a assembler and distributor of electronic ballasts for the lighting market, has scored $10M in a venture investment, according to investor Braemer Energy Ventures. STEC Gets Design Win
Santa Ana-based STEC, a manufacturer of solid state disk drives, reported Monday that it has signed a partnership with Fujitsu Storage Systems. According to STEC, Fujitsu is using the firm's enterprise SSD in its ETERNUS Storage Systems, a data storage product for the Fibre Channel market. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed.
