Friday Fun: LA Earthquake Info Hits Twitter
Friday fun: In the latest information source to connect to the popular micro messaging site Twitter, an intrepid programmer has created a Twitter robot--@earthquakesLA which allows Twitter users to see the latest earthquakes in the Los Angeles area, based on data from the USGS. According to the timeline of creator @billsnitzer, the new Twitter robot was created on May 4th. FastSoft Updates Product Line
Pasadena-based FastSoft, the Caltech spinout developing Internet acceleration devices, disclosed earlier this week that it has rolled out a new product. The firm said its new E Series EX accelerator now supports 10Gbps throughput, and accelerates TCP traffic 2 to 5 times. The firm said it is targeting hosting, SaaS, social network, content distribution networks, and cloud computing companies with the hardware. Pricing on the new product was not released. ISWest Partners With Local Technology Provider
Agoura Hills-based web hosting and colocation provider ISWest reported this week that it has linked with Third Wave Technology Services, a provider of technology services in the Los Angeles area. According to the two firms, ISWest has deployed several colocation projects for Third Wave's clients in its data centers. ISWest provides high speed access, server colocation, managed servers, and other related services to its clients.

Abraxis Names VP
Los Angeles-based Abraxis BioScience, a biotech firm focused on treatments for cancer, said Friday that it has hired on Marty J. Duvall as the firm's Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and International Commercial Operations. Duvall joins the firm from MOrphotek, and has also previously served at MGI PHARMA and Sanofi-Aventis.

Websense Links With Riverbed
San Diego-based web security firm Websense has tied with WAN acceleration firm Riverbed Technologies, the two said Thursday. According to the companies, they will offer Websense's web security products combined with WAN optimization products from Riverbed. Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed. Websense's software will site on Riverbed's Steelhead appliance; the solution will be available through resellers of both firms.
