Tandem Diabetes Gets $21.3M
San Diego-based Tandem Diabetes, a developer of insulin pumps, has raised $21.3M out of a $52.3M funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm Friday. Details on the funding have not been released by the company. Tandem has previously raised funding from such firms as Domain Associates, Second Technology Capital Investors, and TPG Ventures.

AdventureLink Snags CEO From Yahoo
Los Angeles-based AdventureLink, a venture funded online adventure travel booking site, said Friday that it has appointed Jeff Dossett as the firm's Chief Executive Officer. Dossett was most recently at Yahoo!, where he was Senior Vice President of Audience Experiences for North America. Dossett also was Executive Producer and General Manager of MSN, and was CEO of Carpoint, and GM of MSN HomeAdvisor. RFaxis Announces RF Chips
Irvine-based RFaxis, a new semiconductor firm focused on RF chips, said yesterday that it has launched its first two products, a set of single-chip products for the Bluetooth, WLAN, MIMO, and Zigbee markets. According to RFaxis, the firm's chips replace conventional, multi-die front end modules with single-chip, single-die wireless capability. The firm said it is looking to reduce complexity and costs of wireless designs.

Broadcom Names New Board Member
Irvine-based Broadcom announced this morning that it has added Joan L. Amble as a board member. Amble is EVp and Corporate Comptroller of the American Express Company. According to Broadcom, Amble has also served at GE Capital Services, the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and Ernst and Young LLP. Amble also sits on the board of SIRIUS XM Radio. The new board member expands Broadcom's board to eight members. Broadcom is a manufacturer of a wide range of networking and other semiconductors.

Citrix Online Looks To UGC For TV Commercial
Santa Barbara-based Citrix Online is looking to tap the creativity of Internet users for its next TV commercial, saying last night that it is inviting people to create their next TV commercial as part of a promotion. The firm said that it is asking customers to create a TV commercial for GoToMeeting, the firm's web conferencing offering, and will award $30,000 in cash to the "most creative video entry."
