Alphatec Spine Gains $10M In PIPE
Carlsbad-based Alphatec Holdings, the parent firm of medical device firm Alphatec Spine, announced Friday that the firm has raised $10M in a private placement. According to the company, the funding came from Healthpoint Capital Partners II, L.P. The firm said the funding would go towards general working capital purposes. Thomas Weisel Partners was the placement agent in the round.

Emulex: New Broadcom Info "Littered" With Misleading Statements
Costa Mesa-based Emulex is continuing its campaign against Broadcom's hostile takeover bid of the firm, releasing a note Thursday saying that presentation materials issued this week by Broadcom are "littered with misleading statements and mischaracterizations." Leads360 Ties Into Allstate
Los Angeles-based Leads360, a developer of Internet leads management software, reported earlier this week that the firm has partnered with firm Quote Burst to allow Allstate agents to receive, quote, follow-up, and track new sales leads. Financial impact of the partnership and terms were not disclosed. Projecturf Takes On Project Management
Redondo Beach-based Projecturf has launched a new, online project and collaboration software product, which the firm is targeting to small and medium sized businesses. According to the site, it provides task tracking software for managing initiatives and projects, and is targeted at users of Microsoft Project. Pharos Ships Windows GPS Phone
Torrance-based Pharos Science & Applications said this week that it has shipped a new Windows phone which combines the firm's GPS technology with access T-Mobile and AT&T wireless networks. According to Pharos, the new Traveler 137 phone is based on Windows, and includes voice-prompted navigation system, GPS capability, an on-board phone, and other features. The phone lists for $599.95. Pharos is a developer of GPS navigation devices and other related products.
