FunnelSource Targets Salesforce.com Analytics
Beverly Hills-based FunnelSource, a new startup which is developing a product to pull information from cloud-based, customer relationship management software like Salesforce.com, is looking to improve the accuracy of forecasting and sales data collection in that tool with its new software. CFX Battery Ups Funding To Nearly $15.2M
Azusa-based CFX Battery, a Caltech spinout developing advanced battery technology, has upped its funding to nearly $15.2M, according to a regulatory filing by the firm today. CFX Battery has previously raised funding from CMEA Ventures, Harris and Harris, and US Venture Partners. CFX is developing both primary and rechargeable battery technology, which is says provides high performance, is environmentally friends, and cost effective. Celerus Diagnostics Ramps Automation Efforts
Carpinteria-based Celerus Diagnostics, a developer of scientific equipment for the pathology lab market, said today that it plans to introduce a totally automated immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining system to the market next year. The firm claims that the new system will provide "total automation" of its existing systems, which are used by hospitals and reference labs to diagnose cancer. ExpenseBay Takes Twiistup
Los Angeles-based ExpenseBay scored the top award--a Lego trophy--at last week's Twiistup startup showcase event, rising above 11 other startups looking to strut their stuff to investors, angel investors, entrepreneurs, and others at the Universal Hilton on Thursday and Friday. The firm--which was selected by a panel of judges--develops Web 2.0-style software which helps business travelers to automatically fill out and submit expense report forms. Digital Insight Gets Win In Texas
Calabasas-based Digital Insight has scored a win with Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines Federal Credit Union, the credit union serving employees of American Airlines and others. According to American Airlines Federal Credit Union, Digital Insight--which is now a subsidiary of Intuit--will offer an online financial management product called FinanceWorks to its customers. Beckman Coulter Buys Olympus' Diagnostics Business
Fullerton-based scientific equipment firm Beckman Coulter announced today that it has acquired the lab-based diagnostics business of Olympus, in a deal worth approximately 76 billion Japanese yen in cash, or approximately $780M. Beckman, which makes equipment used in the biomedical testing market, said that the buy would boost its position in the chemistry and automation areas. The acquisition was originally announced in February.

Disney-ABC Television Links With Netflix On Lost, Other ABC Shows
Disney-ABC Television and movie rental service Netflix reported this morning that they are in a deal, which will make "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," and other ABC television series available via streaming to Netflix customers. According to Netflix, the episodes went live this weekend, and is an extension of a September deal between the firms focused on series from the Disney Channel. The deal will make episodes available the day after broadcast to Netflix members.

Borrego Solar Gets Into Solar Finance With $30M In Funding
El Cajon-based Borrego Solar Systems, a venture-backed installer of solar power systems, is extending into the power-purchase agreement (PPA) market today with $30M in new backing. According to Borrego, it will offer financing to schools, companies, and government organizations interested in solar energy, through $30M in backing from Walsin Lihwa, a current investor in the company. iRise Gets Wins
El Segundo-based iRise, a provider of visualization software, disclosed today that it has scored two customer wins. iRise said it has signed Haworth, a manufacturer of office furniture, and SAP Consulting, the consulting arm of software provider SAP, as customers. Financial impact of the two wins was not disclosed. iRise is venture backed by Morgan Stanley Venture Partners, and Deutsche Bank.
