Datrix Acquired By Medical Devices Firm
Escondido-based Datrix, a developer of portable devices for heart monitoring, has been acquired by medical devices firm IntriCon Corporation for approximately $2.5M. St. Paul, Minnesota-based IntriCon said the deal includes $1.225M in cash, a $1.05M subordinate note payable over three years, and 75,000 shares of its common stock. Marshal8e6 Names Execs
Orange-based Marshal8e6, a developer of web and email security products, said earlier this week that it has named William Kilmer as the firm's Chief Marketing Officer, and Werner Thalmeier as Vice President of Product Management. Kilmer was most recently CEO of Avinti, which was acquired by Marshal8e6 in April, and has also served at Intel, Entercept Technologies, NFR Security, and Tarari Networks. Thalmeier was most recently at Finjan, where he was VP of Product Management.

Desktop Factory Shuts Doors, In Process Of Sale
Pasadena-based Desktop Factory, the Idealab startup working on low cost, 3D fabricators, told its users this week that it is shutting the firm and will be selling its intellectual property, as it has failed to secure funding for the firm. According to CEO Cathy Lewis, the firm--close to the last 30 days of cash at the firm--believes it has found interested buyers for the company, and expects to sell the firm within the next 30 days.
