Prism VentureWorks Shuts Los Angeles Office
Venture capital firm Prism VentureWorks has shut its offices in Los Angeles, according to a report Friday by peHUB. According to the report, the firm's Venice offices were shut to save money on overhead for the firm, with partner Gordie Nye continuing to work here out of his home office. Prism's SoCal investments include Mota Motors, Six Degree Games, ibeatyou, and Comedy.com.

Semicoa Deal Price: $16M
Costa Mesa-based Semicoa, which was spun back out of semiconductor firm Microsemi on August 24th, has raised $16M in funding associated with the private equity deal. According to a recent regulatory filing by the firm, it received $16.0M in conjunction with the deal to relaunch the firm. The funding came from Vance Street Capital. Microsemi was forced to divest Semicoa as part of a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice, after Microsemi purchase the firm in July of 2008. Microsemi paid $ (More info...)

Sonos Connects Into Twitter
Santa Barbara-based Sonos, a maker of an Internet-connected, whole-house digital music system, said today that the firm has launched public beta testing of software which connects the firm's music systems into Twitter. According to Sonos, the new features allow customers to automatically post updates on the music they're listening to Twitter, direct from their Sonos controller. Teledyne Buys Remainder Of Ocean Design
Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies announced this moring that the firm's subsidiary, Teledyne Instruments, inc., has acquired the remaining portion of Ocean Design that the firm did not own. Teledyne said it paid approximately $19.6M to acquire the remaining 11 percent of Ocean Design. Ocean Design is a Florida-based manufacturer of undersea, electrical and fiber-optic interconnect systems used in oil and gas production, oceanographic research, and military applications.
