DataDirect Packs 1.2 Petabytes Into One Rack
Chatsworth-based DataDirect Networks, a developer of storage systems, is pushing the limits of density for storage systems, saying earlier this week that it rolled out a new system which packs 1.2 petabytes of disk capacity into a single rack. The high density storage system is leveraging 2 terabyte, SATA hard drives to reach the new density level. The firm's system houses 60 drives in a 4U enclosure, with multiple enclosures in a rack. Celladon Gains $21.8M
La Jolla-based Celladon, a developer of treatments for heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases, has raised $21.8M out of a $24.6M funding round, according to a filing from the firm today. Details on the new funding round were not disclosed by the company. The firm now lists Enterprise Partners, Venrock, and Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation as investors in the company.

RoyaltyShare Signs Canadian Record Label
San Diego-based RoyaltyShare, a provider of royalty tracking for online music sales, reported earlier this week that it has signed on Nettwerk Music Group, a Canadian record label and artist management company, as a customer. No financial details of the win were disclosed. RoyaltyShare said that Nettwerk Music will use the firm to manage its digital sales, processing, and tracking mechanical and artist royalties.
