MSC Software Gets Revised Offer From Symphony
The bidding war for Santa Ana-based MSC.Software continues, with the firm saying today that Symphony Technology Group has increased its purchase price to $8.40 per share in cash for the firm. The upped offer comes after a offer of $8.30 per share in cash for the firm from a group of third-party private equity firms. VMIX Raises $2.0M More
San Diego-based VMIX, which provides software-as-a-service for video hosting, has raised $2.0M in a new funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm today. Details on the funding have not been announced by the company. The filing shows representatives from JK&B Capital, Mission Ventures, ATA Ventures, and Enterprise Partners--all prior investors in the firm--remain on the board of directors. The funding brings the company's total raised to around $23.50M.

Emulex Gets Win At HP
Costa Mesa-based Emulex reported a design win today at HP, saying that it will provide its 8Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters to HP's new StorageWorks X3820 Network Storage System. Shipping volumes and financial impact of the design win was not disclosed. HP's system includes two Emulex LightPulse 8Gb/s Fibre Channel cards as part of a bundled system, to connect servers to the storage array. The product is targeted at small and mid-sized customers.

Power-One Names New VP
Camarillo-based Power-One, a manufacturer of power supplies, said today that it has named Kevin Trosian as the firm's Vice President of Investor Relations. Trosian joins the company from Tower 12 Consulting, a consulting and financial advisory firm. He also has served at Wedbush Morgan Securities and Banc of America Securities, as both Senior Analyst and Vice President positions. HP Names Head of San Diego Imaging and Printing Group
HP said today that it has named Christopher Morgan as Senior Vice President of the firm's Graphics Solutions global business unit, which is part of its Imaging and Printing Group, the firm said this morning. Morgan will be based in San Diego, which is also the headquarters of the firm's Imaging and Printing Group (IPG), where the firm has a couple thousand workers. Morgan has been at HP for 20 years, and was more recently the firm's SVP of Imaging and Printing in the Asia Pacific and Japan regio (More info...)

True Games Opens New Studio
Irvine-based True Games Interactive is opening up a new studio in Austin, Texas, the firm announced this morning. According to True Games, the new studio will be headed by Frank Lucero, who was previously at Midway. True's first online game is Warrier Epic, and it is also developing role-playing game Mytheon. The firm said that the new Austin studio will work on a new project for True; no details on that project have been released. LeisureLink Claims Customer Success
Pasadena-based LeisureLink, which develops software and services for specialty lodging suppliers, said today that one of its customers, Kees Vacation Rentals, has seen an increase in the firm's bookings by 38%, from using the firm's platform. According to LeisureLink, Kees is using the firm's booking system on a network of web sites for 22 resorts that it manages. Oversee.net's Hsu Surfaces With New Startup
One of the co-founders of Oversee.net, the successful Los Angeles domain name monetization firm, has surfaced in Seattle with a new startup, AppBank.com. Fred Hsu, who co-founded Oversee.net along with Lawrence Ng, has started AppBank to allow users to create and share Facebook quizzes and other applications.
