MaxLinear Files For IPO
Carlsbad-based MaxLinear, a developer of RF analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, has filed for an IPO, saying in a filing today that it is looking to raise up to $100M in an IPO on either the Nasdaq Global Market or the New York Stock Exchange. The IPO is being underwritten by Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated, Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., UBS Securities LLC, Thomas Weisel Partners LLC and Needham & Company, LLC. Energy Innovations Gets Win In UAE
Pasadena-based Energy Innovations, a developer of concentrating solar modules, has scored a win in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the firm announced Friday morning. Energy Innovations said it has been awarded a contract to install its systems at Masdar City, a model community of 50,000 which is being developed as a sustainable, energy independent, carbon neutral city entirely powered by renewable energy. Slacker Hits Android
San Diego-based personal radio startup Slacker has expanded its services to Android phones, the firm said this morning, in conjunction with the launch of Motorola's DROID on Verizon. Slacker, which operates a personal Internet radio service which works with PCs, smart phones, and Slacker's own devices, said the new application is free. Break.com, Yoostar In Joint Promotion
Los Angeles-based Break Media, which operates a network of male-centric content web sites, said today that it has linked with home entertainment system company Yoostar in a promotion. According to Break,it is teaming up with Yoostar for a special, featured channel on the site focused on the "Yoostar Casting Tour" competition. Universal Electronics Names Board Member
Cypress-based Universal Electronics said today that it has appointed Carl Vogel to its board of directors. Vogel is a partner at SCP Worldwide, which owns the NHL's St. Louis Blues and Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake. He also sits on the board of Shaw Communications, and previously was a board member at Dish Network. Universal Electronics is a developer of wireless accessories.
