Buy.com Adds Free E-Commerce Sites For Affiliates
Aliso Viejo-based Buy.com, the online e-commerce retailer, said today that it will provide free web site hosting of e-commerce sites as part of a new, turnkey tool for developing affiliate e-commerce sites. According to Buy.com, its new StoreBuilder tool will allow its affiliates to easily create their own customized site featuring products from the retailer. CODA Automotive Snags GM Vet For Sales VP
Santa Monica-based CODA Automotive, a startup manufacturer of electric cars, announced today that it has hired on a GM vet, Michael A. Jackson, as its Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Distribution. According to CODA, Jackson was most recently at Sarkissian Mason, and also served as CEO of SPEEDSHAPE. Newegg.com Adds Same Day Shipping
City of Industry-based NewEgg, the Los Angeles area e-commerce firm, told its users today that it has added a new, same-day shipping option for customers who live near its three main distribution centers. According to NewEgg, the new service -- Newegg Local Express Delivery -- will allow users to receive eligible, in-stock items the same day they are ordered. VYCON Gets $13.7M
Los Angeles-based VYCON, which manufactures high-speed, DC energy storage systems based on flywheel technology, said this morning that it has raised $13.7M in a new round of funding. The firm said the round was led by BankInvest Group, as well as new investors, and several of its existing investors. The firm said the investment included conversion of $6.5M of its existing convertible notes and $1.1M in existing trade debt. US Healthworks Gains $175M
Valencia-based U.S. HealthWorks, an operator of occupational health care centers, said today that it has raised $175M in a combination of debt and equity. The firm said the funding will go towards its growth and acquisition strategy. The funding included $25M in equity from Altaris Capital Partners, Three Arch, and the firm's Chairman and CEO, Daniel D. Crowley, and $150M in debt from GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services, and Silver Point Finance.
