lynda.com Rolls iPhone App
Carpinteria-based lynda.com, an online site providing training for computer skills, particularly in the area of creative software like Adobe Photoshop, Flash, and other graphical design tools, said Friday that it has released its first iPhone appM.. The firm said its new, free application allows iPhone and iPod Touch owners to access all of its software training. A membership is required for access to all of the site's training, but the app does include sample training tutorials.

Founder Institute: 12 Firms Out of San Diego
The San Diego arm of the Founder Institute, the entrepreneurship mentoring effort started by Adeo Ressi, said Friday that it has graduated 12 companies from its Fall 2009 San Diego semester. The group said the companies included CloudCanvas, an online imaging editing site, Live On Campus, an interactive publishing platform for college and university students, and XBand Technologies, a firm developing electronic devices for monitoring performance, nutrition, and hydration for cyclist. ReachLocal Buys SMB:LIVE
Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal announced Friday that it has acquired SMB:LIVE, a developer of digital presence and reputation management products for the small and medium sized business market. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. ReachLocal said it will use the acquisition to enable SMBs to publish multimedia content to business profile pages on its site, as well as social media and other Internet sites. Green Dot Files For IPO
Monrovia-based Green Dot, a provider of pre-paid VISA and Mastercard cards, has filed for an IPO, saying this morning that it is looking to raise up to $150M in an IPO on the NYSE. The firm's IPO is being undewritten by J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Piper Jaffray, and UBS Investment Bank. Green Dot is venture backed by Sequoia Capital, TTP Fund, as well as a significant number of Tech Coast Angels. The firm reported net income of $37.16M on revenues of $234.8M in 2009. DTS In Win With Samsung
Calabasas-based DTS, a developer of surround sound technology, announced this morning that it has entered into a partnership with Samsung Electronic Co. DTS said that Sansumg will be integrating DTS audio decoding into "virtually all" of its digital televisions worldwide. Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed.
