RFaxis Taps Cisco For Advisor
Irvine-based RFaxis, a developer of semiconductors for the mobile phone and wireless markets, said earlier this week that it added Malachy Moynihan, Vice President of Video Product Strategy at Cisco, to its board of advisors. Moynihan has been at Cisco since June of 2000, when Cisco acquired InfoGear Technology. RFaxis is headed by MIke Neshat.

EMN8 Raises $14.4M
San Diego-based EMN8, a developer of order taking kiosks for the fast food industry, has raised $14.4M in a funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm this week. The funding has not been announced by the company. EMN8 is backed by GRP Partners, Sid R. Bass Associates, and Fort Washington Capital. According to the filing, representatives from RMT Family Partners and Allegis Capital are now on its board. OpenGate Capital Buys Brazilian Telecom Firm
Los Angeles-based private equity firm OpenGate Capital announced today that it has acquired Philips Business Communications (PBC), a leading provider of telecommunication and data solutions in Brazil. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. OpenGate said it acquired PBC from global technology firm Philips. PBC provides enterprise telecommunications services for telecom operators Telefonica, Telmex, and CTBC, in addition to offering Microsoft, IBM, and 3Com products.

AuctionPoint Gets Investment From LoopNet
Marina Del Rey-based AuctionPoint, which operates an online service for helping property brokers auction off commercial real estate, has received a strategic investment from LoopNet, LoopNet said today. San Francisco-based LoopNet operates an online commercial real estate marketplace. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. Apriso In Deal with Dassault
Long Beach-based Apriso, a developer of manufacturing software, reported today that it has linked with Dassault Systemes, a developer of 3D and product lifecycle management software. Apriso said it has signed a Component Application Architecture (CAA) Software Partnership Agreement with Dassault, which will allow the firm to integrate its applications and Dassault's DELMIA Digital Manufacturing solutions. Mobile-XL Links With Oberthur Technologies
Los Angeles-based Mobile-XL, the international mobile information services firm backed by the Tech Coast Angels, said this week that it has linked a deal with Oberthur Technologies to include its XLBrowser Content Platform on Oberthur's line of SIM cards. Xirrus In Another Australian Education Win
Thousand Oaks-based Xirrus reported yesterday that the firm has deployed its Wi-Fi array products at Manor Lakes P-12 Specialist College, in Victoria, Australia. Financial details of the install were not disclosed. Xirrus said the firm's wireless network covers over 2,500 students at the school's campus. Xirrus said it was selected by the college to help address issues with Wi-Fi connectivity and capacity at the college.

Online marketing firms Gorilla Nation, Atomiconline, Double Helix, and Springboard said this morning that the firms have joined their brands under parent firm Evolve Media. ZipRecruiter Launches Job Posting Site
Santa Monica-based ZipRecruiter, a new startup focused on the online job board market, said that it has launched its service this week. The startup, whose founders have served at such firms as CitySearch,,, and ThisNext, said it provides a service which allows users to post to multiple, free job boards with one submission.
