Xirrus Deploys In Transportation Deal
Thousand Oaks-based Xirrus announced this week that it has deployed its 802.11n wireless arrays at a county in Bellingham, Washington. Xirrus said that the Whatcom Transportation Authority, which provides public transportation in the county, is using the firm to provide wireless access on both its buses and five facilities. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.

Diskeeper In Deal with ASUS
Burbank-based Diskeeper, a developer of disk defragmentation software, has scored a distribution agreement with ASUS, the firm said earlier this week. Diskeeper said it is providing its HyperBoot boot-time optimization technology for ASUS's Windows 7 notebook models. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Diskeeper said its technology reduces boot times on computers from 20 to 48 percent.

Sorenson Wins Lenovo
San Diego-based Sorenson Media, the video codec firm headed by Peter Csathy, said this week that the firm's Sorenson Spark video decoder has been licensed by Lenovo. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. The firm said that Lenovo is using its decoder in its new Lenova Skylight smartbook.

Telogis Names Sales VP
Aliso Viejo-based Telogis announced late Thursday that it has named Susan Heystee as its Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales. The firm, which develops fleet management, route planning, and related software, said Heystee joins from Novell, where she was VP, and General Manager of Global Strategic Alliances. Heystee has also served at SSA Global, Software AG, and Baan.

YouMail Trumpets Customer Numbers
Irvine-based YouMail, the startup headed by Alex Quilici which provides advanced voicemail services, said this week that it has hit one million registered users, and has now handled over 300 million calls. The firm said the increased user base came as a result of its new smart phone applications for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. YouMail's voicemail service provides customized greetings to callers, transcription of calls into text or email, and voicemail filtering. The firm is venture backed b (More info...)
