OpenX Teams With Orange On European Ad Marketplace
Pasadena-based ad serving software firm OpenX is poweriing a new, European ad marketplace being run by Orange/France Telecom, the firms announced Tuesday evening. According to the firms, Orange Ad Market is an Internet advertising marketplace for display advertising, which will match publishers and advertisers. Financial arrangements between the firms were not disclosed. Burstly Snags $1.8M For Mobile Ad Tools
Los Angeles-based Burstly announced Tuesday afternoon that the firm has raised $1.8M in a venture funding. The funding round came from GRP Partners and Rincon Ventures. Mark Suster at GRP lead the firm's investment, with Jim Andelman heading up Rincon's involvement. CODA Automotive Gets $394M For Battery Systems
Santa Monica-based CODA Automotive announced Tuesday afternoon that it has scored $394M in funding for the firm's electric battery efforts. According to CODA, $100M in equity funding comes from joint venture partner Lishen Power Battery, with another $294M in a line of credit from the Bank of Tianjin Joint-Stock Co., Ltd. Idealab Sells Off Domain For $1M
A UK-based firm running an online price comparison shopping site said today that it has acquired the domain name Top10.com from Pasadena-based Idealab, in a deal worth over $1M. According to the firm which acquired the domain--which is rebranding itself as Top10.com Media Ltd.--the deal was a combination of cash and equity. Reverse Medical Raises $14M
Irvine-based Reverse Medical Corporation, a developer of microcatheters for treating neurovascular disorders, announced today that it has raised $14M in a Series B funding round. Hollywood-based Friendgiftr is launching a new, mobile store, the firm said today. According to Friendgiftr, it is now allowing users to buy gifts cards using smart phones and mobile devices. MySpace Boosts Internet Safety Efforts
Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace is looking to boost its Internet safety efforts today, saying that it is backing a campaign by nonprofit Enough is Enough to help keep children online. MySpace said it is sponsoring a Jumbotron ad campaign in Times Square in New York City, as well as a related DVD teaching series, workbook, and web site, to help educate kids on the dangers of the Internet. WD Ups Density On Latest Hard Drive
Lake Forest-based disk drive maker WD said today that it is shipping a new, 750 GB, 2.5-inch notebook hard drive, which it claims features the highest, 2.5-inch areal density in the industry. The firm said its new WD Scorpio Blue 750GB hard drive supports 375 GB-per-platter areal density, and lists for $149.00. The company is targeting the mainstream notebook computer market with the new hard drive.

Smish Gets $2.0M

Novatel Wireless Adds Wireless Module
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless is expanding its product lineup, saying today that it has added a new embedded module for the 3G mobile data market. The firm said the new, Expedite E120 Embedded Module is designed for mobile Internet devices, electronic books, and other portable entertainment devices, and is based on the Qualcomm MDM6085 chipset. FastSoft Targets Desktop Virtualization Market
Pasadena-based FastSoft, which develops Internet acceleration appliances, said today that it is targeting the desktop virtualization market with a new product. According to FastSoft, its new Desktop Virtualization Acceleration solution improves the performance of Citrix Remote Desktop, Microsoft RDP, and other thin clients by up to 500%. SANYO Names North American Consumer Head
Chatsworth-based SANYO North American Corporation said today that it has named Andrew Nelkin as President of the firm's Consumer Solutions Division, the unit of the firm which markets SNAYO's consumer electronics in the US.
