Verve Wireless Ties With Audit Firm
Encinitas-based Verve Wireless, a developer of mobile local news publishing software, has tied with the Audit Bureau of Circulations' interactive unit, ABCi, the firm said this week. According to ABCi and Verve, ABCi will provide newspaper publishers and advertisers with independently verified mobile usage data for Verve clients. Business details of the deal were not disclosed. The Trade Desk Adds Investor
Ventura-based The Trade Desk, the online advertising ad exchange headed by AdECN vet Jeff Green, has added another investor to its recent funding. According to New York-based Wider Wake Networks, it invested more than a half a million dollars in The Trade Desk, as part of the firm's recent $2.5M seed investment round. Wider Wake Networks is headed by Paul Olliver. The Trade Desk had announced the funding round, which included IA Ventures and Founder Collective, in March.

AutoESL Design Technologies Gets $2.0M
AutoESL Design Technologies, a electronic design automation (EDA) firm based on research out of UCLA, has received $2.0M in an ongoing funding, according to a regulatory filing by the firm today. According to the filing, the firm is in the midst of raising $4.5M for its technology, which is used for high level design synthesis in the semiconductor industry. Newegg Links With Warranty Firm
City of Industry-based online retailer Newegg said today that it has linked with an extended warranty firm, to add extended warranty protection on the firm's Canadian site, Newegg.ca. Newegg said it has partnered with Service Net, to provide its Canadian customers with extended warranties on desktop PCs, notebooks and netbooks, many PC peripherals, consumer electronics, and small appliances. The warranty coverage run from 1-4 years on TVs, and 1-2 years on most other products.

Aragon Pharmaceuticals Raises $22M
San Diego-based Aragon Pharmaceuticals, a developer of treatments for hormonally driven cancers, said today that it has raised $22M in a Series B funding. The funding came from Aisling Capital, OrbiMed Advisors, and the Column Group. As part of the funding, BRett I.W. Zbar, M.D. of Aisling Capital joins the company's board. Aragon said the new funding will be used to advance its ARN-509 candidate into clinical trials. Aragon is initially targeting prostate and breast cancer with its treatments. (More info...)

Vitesse Rolls Out Green Ethernet Chips
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor announced today that it is rolling out a new line of Ethernet chips, which it says specifically include power saving features. The firm said its new line of EcoEthernet chips allow OEMS to implement power-saving features that exceed the IEEE's 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet standards, including features such as temperature monitoring, smart fan control, and adjustable LED brightness. Warner Bros. Buys Turbine
Burbank-based Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group said yesterday that it has acquired Massachusetts-based videogame developer Turbine, maker of the online games The Lord of the Rings Online, Asheron's Call, and Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment oversees home video, video games, wireless, and digital distribution for Warner Bros.
