Blizzard Sets Launch Date For StarCraft II
Irvine-based Blizzard Entertainment said Monday afternoon that it will release its sequel to StarCraft, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, on July 27th. According to firms, the title will be available in stores throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, as well as Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. StarCraft II is the sequel to the firm's 1998 title StarCraft.

OVGuide Merges With IBeatYou
Beverly Hills-based OVGuide.com, the online video search site backed by Geocities' David Bohnett, has merged with IBeatYou, according to a regulatory filing Monday. The deal was worth $2.975M, with $1.487M in earnout. Canon Communications Buys Pharmaceuticals Blog Pharmalot
Los Angeles-based Canon Communications, a publisher and trade show operator serving the pharmaceutical industry, said Monday that it has acquired Pharmalot, a blog focused on news and information in the pharmaceutical industry. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Canon Communications said that Pharmalot founder Ed Silverman joins the firm as part of the buy. Pharmalot becomes part of Canon's Pharmaceutical Media Group. Canon Communications is a unit of Apprise Media LLC.

Hydra Names Director
Beverly Hills-based Hydra, which operates a cost-per-action (CPA) advertising network, said Monday that it has named Michelle Andino to Director of Campaign Management, as part of a new department focused on campaign management. Andino has been at Hydra for the last five years. The firm said the new department will provide a "more strategic" approach to maximizing campaign performance for its advertisers. ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals Gets $19.2M
San Diego-based ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals, a publicly held developer of cancer treatments, said today that it is in a private placement where it will receive $19.2M in a Series F convertible preferred stock round. Source of the new funding was not disclosed. InTouch Health Gets $10M, Eyes Public Markets
Santa Barbara-based InTouch Technologies, a developer of remote presence systems used for the healthcare industry, announced today that it has raised $10M in a private placement. Iteris Ties With Siemens
Santa Ana-based Iteris, a developer of traffic management systems, said today that it has linked with Siemens Industry, Inc., a developer of a traffic controllers. The two said that Iteris's Vantage video detection system -- which is used for monitoring traffic on roadways--has been integrated with Siemens Traffic Solutions SITRAFFIC Sphere product, a product used to control traffic lights.

Althea Technologies Buys Altus Pharmaceuticals
San Diego-based Althea Technologies, a contract development and manufacturing firm for the biopharmaceuticals industry, said today that it has acquired the assets and IP portfolio of Altus Pharmaceuticals. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Altus Pharmaceuticals is a developer of controlled release injectable technologies, used for protein purification and catalysis.
