Oversee.net: Dating(.com) Worth More Than Therapists
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, the domain name monetization and Internet marketing firm run by Jeff Kupietzky, continues to rack up million dollar domain names sales. The firm is reporting today that its SnapNames and Moniker units just closed an auction at DOMAINfest in Florida, where the domain name Dating.com was sold for $1.75M, beating out such domains as BoardGames.com ($450,000), Therapists.com ($50,000), and Antidepressant.com ($30,000) in worth.

Source: Adaptec Shutting Down Lake Forest Site
Storage hardware developer Adaptec is shutting down its Lake Forest, Orange County site, according to sources close to the company. No details on the shutdown have been given, and Adaptec has not returned emails and phone calls requesting confirmation of the move. Adaptec moved into Lake Forest in August of 2008, when it acquired Aristos Logic, a developer of RAID chips and technology. At that time, Aristos had approximately 75 employees. Enclarity Gets Investment From Emdeon
Aliso Viejo-based Enclarity, a developer of healthcare information solutions, recently received an investment from Nashville, Tennessee-based Emdeon. Financial terms of the investment were not announced, however, Emdeon said that the minority equity investment will go to fund development and implementation of several additional healthcare efficiency projects at Enclarity. BioIQ In Deal With UnitedHealthCare
Santa Barbara-based BioIQ, a developer of health screening kits and related online services, has scored a win with UnitedHealthcare. According to UnitedHealthcare, it is now offering at-home, health screening kits for corporate wellness programs, which will help companies screen employees for such conditions as diabetes and heart disease. Sequent Medical Raises $15.6M
Aliso Viejo-based Sequent Medical, a firm focused on medical devices for treating neurovascular disease, said Thursday that it has raised $15.6M in a Series B funding round. The funding was led by Domain Associates, and also included Versant Ventures and US Venture Partners. As part of the funding, the company said that Domain's Nimesh Shah joins the company's board of directors. Sequent's technology is focused on treatment of cerebral aneurysms.

RightSignature Wins Farmer's Insurance
Santa Barbara-based RightSignature, the electronic signature site run by Daryl Bernstein, announced today that it is powering a new electronic signature solution for Farmers Insurance Claims. According to Farmers Insurance, its eZsign initiative allows customers to settle claims using electronic signatures. Internet Brands Sued By Founders of Model Mayhem
Los Angeles-based Internet Brands has been sued by the former owners of one of the firm's properties, Model Mayhem, according to legal documents recently leaked to the press. Hulu Makes Major Upgrades To Video Player

Rubicon Project: 25 Percent Growth In Ad Spending In Q1
Los Angeles-based Rubicon Project is reporting today that there was a 25 percent, year-over-year growth in online ad spending, according to the firm's Q1 2010 Online Advertising Market Report. MSC.Software Ties With LifeModeler
Santa Ana-based MSC.Software, a developer of simulation software, said earlier this week that it is in a partnership with LifeModeler, to integrate the firm's MSC Adams software into the LifeMOD human modeling and simulation software. Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed. The firms said the move will help biomechanical engineers and scientists to accurately create virtual human models, specifically for testing of medical device designs.

CODA Automotive Names Sales VP
Santa Monica-based CODA Automotive, the heavily backed electric car manufacturer, said today that it has hired David Funston as its Vice President, Fleet and Commercial Sales. Funston joins the company from Funston Fleet Services, which he founded, which provided consulting to OEMs, dealer groups, and fleet dealers on fleet sales and used vehicle remarketing.
