American Reliance Power Acquired By AMETEK
The El Monte, California-based Power Division of American Reliance (AMREL Power), has been acquired by Pennsylvania firm AMETEK, AMETEK announced Thursday. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. AMREL Power is a provider of direct current (DC) power supplies and loads for the automated test equipment market. Total Beauty's John Hadl Joins USVP In Los Angeles
Santa Monica-based Total Beauty Media's John Hadl has joined venture capital firm U.S. Venture Partners, USVP said today, on the heels of the acquisition of USVP's LimeLife by Total Beauty. According to U.S. Venture Partners, Hadl has been appointed as Venture Partner on the firm's Consumer Internet and Business Services investment team. ThisNext Gets $1.2M In Funding Round
Santa Monica-based ThisNext, the online social shopping and product discovery site now being run by Matt Edelman, has raised $1.2M in a round of funding, according to a regulatory filing from the firm today. According to the filing, the first investment in the round was August 4th, and included equity, options, and warrants. 1-800-DENTIST Gains Venture Funding
Los Angeles-based 1-800-DENTIST, a provider of marketing services to dentists, said this week that it has raised a round of growth financing from Cue Ball Capital and Bain Capital Ventures. Financial terms of the round were not disclosed. As part of the funding, the firm said has acquired Dental Senders, which develops a marketing and digital communications product for dental practices. As part of the funding, David Shaffer of Cue Ball has joined the company's board of directors.

Total Beauty Buys LimeLife
Santa Monica-based Total Beauty Media, the online fashion content site run by Emrah Kovacoglu, said this morning that it has acquired LimeLife.com, a female lifestyle and celebrity news site. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. LimeLife was founded by Kristin McDonnell. Yellowpages.com Revamps Site
AT&T's Glendale-based online YellowPages.com unit said today that it has revamped its site, as YP.com. The firm said it has modified its site to a new, image-based layout highlighting local companies. Mindspeed Names Board Member
Newport Beach-based semiconductor maker Mindspeed Technologies said this morning that it has added Robert J. Conrad to the firm's board of directors. Conrad is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fairchild Semiconductor's Mobile, Computing, Consumer and Communications (MCCC) product group. San Diego-based venture capital firm Enterprise Partners is one of the firms in a $39M, Series E funding round for Mountain View-based Complete Genomics, Complete Genomics said today. SpectraFluidics Gets Investment From In-Q-Tel
Santa Barbara-based SpectraFluidics, a developer of chemical detection systems, announced yesterday that it has received a strategic investment from In-Q-Tel, the venture capital arm of the CIA. Size of the investment was not disclosed. SpectraFluidics develops a vapor trace chemical detection system which monitors airborne molecules to detect such things as explosives.
