Vicente Capital Partners Funds SportsMEDIA
Los Angeles-based venture capital firm Vicente Capital Partners has invested $12.5M in a funding for sports statistics and information provider SportMEDIA Technology Corp., SportsMEDIA said today. Vicente Capital's investment was led by Jay Ferguson. SportsMEDIA, which is base din Durham, N.C., provides graphics, statistics, and video enhancement for sports broadcasts. SportsMEDIA said it will use the funding to accelerate introduction of new products, migrate to a next generation software platf (More info...)

TrueCar Launches New Pricing Tool
Santa Monica-based TrueCar.com, the online automotive pricing startup headed up by Scott Painter, said Thursday that it has launched a new tool to help new car buyers. TrueCar said that it has launched a Best Local Price tool, which will allow car shoppers to search for the best local deals on a vehicle. According to TrueCar, the firm said that the search tool will provide a "Lowest Certified Price" for a car, a no-haggle price which will be honored by participating dealers in its program. DivX Signs Deal In Europe
San Diego-based DivX, which develops video encoding and decoding technology, has signed on a European manufacturer of televisions, Arcelik A.S. According to DivX, Arcelik will distribute DivX Plus HD Certified digital TVs in Europe. Financial terms of the win were not disclosed. Arcelik is based in Turkey. DivX develops video encoding and decoding technology, which it licenses to consumer electronics manufacturers. The firm is in the midst of being acquired by Sonic Solutions.

Mad Catz Loses CFO
San Diego-based Mad Catz Interactive, a developer of videogame accessories, reported last night that its CFO, Stewart Halpern, has resigned from the firm. The company said Halpern is leaving to "pursue other interests." Mad Catz said that Allyson Vanderford, its Controller, has been named Interm CFO. Halpern had been at the firm from the last three and a half years.
