The firm said it has added Bill Zeitler and Scott Mercer to the board, increasing its number of directors to eight. Zeitler was most recently at IBM, where he was last Senior Vice President and Group Executive, Servers, Storage and Semiconductor Groups. Entropic Boosts GuidanceSan Diego-based semiconductor maker Entropic Communications, which makes chips for the home networking and entertainment market, said Monday that it is boosting its guidance for revenue in Q3 of 2010. According to the firm, it is upping its third quarter revenue range to between $60M and $61M, up from an earlier guidance of between $51M and $53M. Kareo Gets $9.5MIrvine-based Kareo, a developer of web-based medical billing software, announced today that it has raised $9.5M in an investment round. According to Kareo, the funding came from OpenView Venture Partners. The firm said the new funding will go to enhance customer service, expand its product suite, build out sales and marketing, as well as to bolster its management team. YouMail: 500 Million CallsIrvine-based YouMail, the personalized voicemail service run by Alex Quilici, reported today that it has now handled its 500 millionth call. The firm said it is now handling around 1.5 million calls daily on its service. The firm--which is backed by the Tech Coast Angels and VantagePoint Venture Partners--said it also has over one million registered users. iRise Gets PatentEl Segundo-based iRise, the developer of software visualization tools for the enterprise, said today that it has been awarded a third, U.S. Patent. uSamp Reports GrowthEncino-based uSamp, the online sampling and survey firm run by Gregg Lavin and Matt Dusig, reported over the weekend that it had revenue growth over over 167 percent. Actual financials for the privately held firm were not disclosed, however, the firm claimed record growth in its year-over-year results. THQ Wireless Launches Two iPhone Star Wars GamesAgoura Hills-based videogame maker THQ said today that it has released two, Star Wars themed games for the iPhone and iPod touch. According to THQ, it has released Star Wars: Trench Run 2.0 and Star Wars: Vader Yourself through Apple's App store. Trench Run is a game based on the Star Wars theme of destryoing the Death Star. Vader Yourself allows players to transform their voice into that of Darth Vader. Trench Run costs $4.99, and Vader Yourself $0.99.

DTS Ties With Digital RapidsCalabasas-based DTS, the developer of surround sound and audio technology, reported today that it has partnered with Digital Rapids, a provider of hardware and software for encoding and transcoding video and audio. According to DTS, Digital Rapids will incorporate the DTS and DTS-HD audio format into future versions of its products for high volume transcoding and studio encoding. Financial details of the partnership were not announced.

DivX Signs German FirmSan Diego-based DivX, the developer of video encoding and decoding technology, said this morning that it has signed a German company, TechniSat Digital Gmbh, as a customer. According to DivX, TechniSat will use its technology in its digital set top box devices and digital televisions for the German market. Financial details of the deal were not announced. DivX develops its own video encoding and decoding technology, which it licenses to consumer electronics firms.
