YouMail Raises $410K
Aliso Viejo-based YouMail, which develops personalized voicemail services, has raised another $410,000 in funding, according to a regulatory filing from the firm on Friday. Source of the new funding was not disclosed. According to the filing, the round include both equity and warrants. YouMail has previously raised funding from the Tech Coast Angels, VantagePoint Venture Partners, and others. YouMail is headed by Alex Quilici, and recently said it is now seeing around 1.5 million calls daily on (More info...)

AdventureLink Being Sold, In Foreclosure
Altadena-based AdventureLink, an operator of an online marketplace for adventure travel, is being sold in a foreclosure sale today, after being foreclosed upon by its lenders, according to a public notice published by its lenders. According to the notice, the firm is being sold for default in the payment of debt and performance of its obligations, by lender Vencore Solutions. Netflix, NBC Universal Ink Streaming Deal
Beverly Hills-based NBC Universal Domestic Television DIstribution and DVD rental provider Netflix said Friday that they have expanded a license agreement covering streaming of NBC TV shows. According to the two, the deal allows Netflix customers to view prior season cable and broadcast TV series. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Spirent Wins NASA
Yorba Linda-based Spirent Federal, the Federal business arm of testing equipment provider Spirent, reported this week that it has been selected by NASA, for GPS testing at Kennedy Space Center. Spirent said the Range Technologies Development Lab at Kennedy has selected the firm's equipment for GPS L1/L5 testing. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. Spirent's equipment is being used to test GPS and satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) receivers.

Activision Joins Education Effort
Santa Monica-based Activision Blizzard said today that it has joined the new Change the Equation (CTEq) initiative to help improve literacy in science, technology, engineering, and math. The effort, announced by President Obama last week, looks to boost student fluency in science and math, and prepare students for science, technology, engineering, and math careers. Activision Blizzard said it joins Time Warner Cable, Sally Ride Science, Kodak, Intel and Xerox in supporting the effort.

Cylene Pharmaceuticals Gets $12M
San Diego-based Cylene Pharmaceuticals reported today that it has raised $12M in a financing round, from its existing investors, as it kicks off a Phase I clinical trial. HireRight Names International VP
Irvine-based HireRight, a provider of on-demand, employment background and drug screening services, announced this week that it has named Dan Shoemaker as its Vice President of International Business. According to the firm, Shoemaker joins from US Investigations Serviecs (USIS), and also served as assistant secretary of transportation for the Commonwealth of Virginia and has managed government affairs for the National Air Transportation Association. Shoemaker reports to CEO Mike Petrullo.
