Cyber-Rain Raises $1.6M More
Encino-based Cyber-Rain, the developer of Internet-linked, automated sprinkler controllers, has raised $1.6M in a funding, according to a regulatory filing by the firm on Tuesday. According to the filing, the new funding is part of an ongoing, $2.0M fundraising effort by the firm. Source of the funding has not been announced by the company, which has previously raised capital from Funk Ventures, Momentum Venture Management, and the Tech Coast Angels. Hulu In Deals With Roku, Tivo
Los Angeles-based Hulu said Tuesday that the video site is in new distribution partnerships with both Roku and Tivo. According to Hulu, its Hulu Plus service will be available through both platforms, extending its coverage beyond existing desktop, Apple iPad, iPhone 3GS, iphone4, and 3rd generation iPod Touch, along with Sony PlayStation 3 and certain Samnsung Blu-ray players and TVs. Michael Jones Gets Exit At Thing Labs
Michael Jones, CEO of MySpace and former founder of Userplane, has another exit under his belt today, as AOL announced it has acquired Thing Labs, a San Francisco maker of web-based, social software. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Thing Labs makes the Brizzly web-based software for sharing and discovering content. Report: Rubicon Project Nearing Deal With New Corp. For FAN
According to a report today from Paidcontent.org, Santa Monica-based Rubicon Project, the online advertising firm founded by Frank Addante, is in talks with News Corp. to fold the firm in with the Fox Audience Network (FAN). The report cites sources close to the deal. Paidcontent reports that News Corp. would take an equity stake in post-merger Rubicon. Rubicon is venture backed by Clearstone Venture Partners, IDG Ventures, Mayfield, and others.

Verve Wireless Raises $7M For Mobile News Apps
San Diego-based Verve Wireless, the developer of mobile publishing tools for the Associated Press, McClatchy, Belo Interactive, and other publishers, said this morning that it has raised $7M more in additional funding. The round was led by BlueRun Ventures, and also included prior investors The Associated Press and others. Namesake Unveils Social Jobs Service
Los Angeles-based Namesake, the latest startup of Dan Gould and Brian Norgard, has revealed that it is working on a service to help users use their social networks to find a job or promote jobs opportunities. Gould co-founded Newroo and Ad.ly and was at Fox Audience Network, and Norgard also was a co-founder at Ad.ly and Newroo. Total Immersion Adds Another Reseller
Los Angeles-based Total Immersion, the developer of augmented reality software headed by Bruno Uzaan, is further ramping up its recruitment of resellers. The firm said today that it has added immediaC, a Halifax, Nova Scotia marketing and technology agency, as a member of its reseller network. Emulex, QLogic Back 16Gb/s Fibre Channel
Costa Mesa-based Emulex and Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, teh two Orange County Fibre Channel storage area networking equipment manufacturers, both separately announced their support for the new 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel standard today. The standard is used for connecting servers with storage. The ratification of the standard, via the ANSI T11 committees, was announced by the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) and a number of manufacturers this morning.
