Yardi Systems Buys Point2 Technologies
Santa Barbara-based Yardi Systems, a developer of real estate and property management software, said late Thursday that it has acquired Point2 Technologies, a developer of online marketing software for the real estate industry. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Point2 is headed in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with offices in Vancouver, British Columbia and San Diego. Point2 has over 130 employees, and was founded in 1996.

Lunch.com Enhances Site
Los Angeles-based Lunch.com, the online social media and networking site headed by J.R. Johnson, told its users today that it has made a new set of updates to the service. According to Johnson, the site has just launched a new Questions feature, which allows users to ask others about information; moved up the prominence of its Discussions feature; and also improved its photo embedding tool. FIM, Break Rank In Top Video Properties, Hulu Tops Video Ads
Fox Interactive Media and Break Media both ranked highly in comScore's August 2010 list of top U.S. Online Video Properties, although both were dwarfed by Google's continued dominance of online video via YouTube. Qualcomm Expands Efforts in Africa
San Diego-based Qualcomm said yesterday that it has opened up a new office in Lagos, Nigeria, which will serve as a hub for the firm's West Africa business operations. According to Qualcomm, the office will serve mobile operators and device manufacturers serving Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Cameroon. The new office is for QCOM Wireless Technologies Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm. ReachLocal Names New CTO, Sales Head
Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal, which provides online marketing products for small- and medium-sized businesses, reported today that it has named Jeff Hagins as Chief Technology Officer, and promoted Steven Power, former Australia CEO, to Executive Vice President of Global Sales Operations. FastSoft Launches Testing Network
Pasadena-based FastSoft, the Caltech spinout which develops web acceleration software, said today that it has launched a testing network for its clients. According to FastSoft, the network includes 30 nodes "around the globe" which can be used to test performance enhancements from using the firm's Dynamic Site Acceleration (DSA) product and software. Active Storage Names CFO
Torrance-based Active Storage, the RAID storage firm founded by ex-Apple executives, and backed by Intel Capital, Mission Ventures, and Valhalla Partners, said Wednesday that it has hired on a CFO. The firm said it has hired Jane Wike as its CFO. Wike had previously served as CFO of Apriso Corporation, and also served at Arroyo Optics, Cybermedia, Crescenda Wireless, and ISOCOR.
