AVST Raises $4.0M More
Foothill Ranch-based AVST, a developer of voice telephony products, has raised $4.0M as part of an ongoing, $18.4M funding round, according to a regulatory filing from the firm Tuesday. No details on the funding have been announced by the company. AVST is backed by Ignition Partners, Dolphin Equity Partners, Open Text, and Escalate Capital. The firm merged in April with Active Voice, a competing provider of call handling and communications products.

Intuit: Half Of Americans Still Using Spreadsheets, Checkbooks
Westlake Village-based Intuit Financial Services, the arm of personal finance software maker Intuit, said Tuesday that it has published a survey showing that about one third of Americans are now using online banking software using online products, up from 27 percent a year ago. Emulex Announces Next Generation Embedded Switch
Costa Mesa-based Emulex, the maker of storage area networking hardware, said Tuesday that it has rolled out its next generation, embedded storage switch, its Inspeed Switch on Chip (SOC) 442. The firm's switch is used by storage array manufacturers for connecting disk drives to RAID and storage controllers. Emulex said the new switch is its fifth generation of chip, and comes after it has shipped more than 58 million ports of its InSpeed embedded switch ports. Activision, Jeep Tie On Call Of Duty Black Ops Wrangler

Skinit Names New CEO
San Diego-based Skinit, the developer of personalized, protective skins for electronic devices, said this morning that it has named Bob King as the new CEO of the firm. The company, which is fresh off a $60M investment injection from ABS Capital Partners and Norwest Equity Partners, said King joins the firm from Corporate Express, where he was CEO. BlueCava Gets $5M
Irvine-based BlueCava, a firm developing security technology related to device reputation, said Monday that it has raised $5M in a Series A funding round. The round came from Mark Cuban and Tim Headington. According to BlueCava, the funding will go towards growth and global expansion of its technology. SheKnows Launches City Guides

Entropic Expands Partnership With TowerJazz
San Diego-based Entropic Communications and Newport Beach-based TowerJazz said late Monday that the two have expanded their supplier capacity agreement. Entropic Communications, which makes semiconductors used by the broadband and cable industry in set-top box products, explained that it has had an increase in volume of production for its Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) ODU and tuner product, which drove the new relationships. Sorenson Media Launches Video URL Shortener
San Diego-based Sorenson Media has launched its own, video URL shortener, saying today that it has launched Vid.vu, a URL shortener specifically aimed at online videos. Sorenson said the new web URL service is integrated into its own, Sorenson Squeeze Server product, and is designed to help users of its encoding sofware to be able to provide short URLs instead of long URLs.
