ClimateMinder Finds $380K
Glendale-based ClimateMinder, a developer of wireless climate monitoring systems for the agriculture market, has raised $380K, part of a $500K funding round, according to a regulatory filing from the firm today. Source of the funding was not disclosed. ClimateMinder's President is Val Babajov, who was founder of WebMessenger. Babajov is also listed as an investors in the firm. Demand Media Sets IPO Offering Size, Boosts Traffic
Santa Monica-based Demand Media is inching closer to its IPO debut, saying in an updated S-1 this morning that it plans to offer 7.5 million shares of its common stock in its IPO. The firm, which has not yet set a pricing range, has applied to list on the NYSE as DMD. Demand said in the filing it plans to sell 4,500,000 shares of the stock in the offering, with selling stockholders selling an additional 3,000,000 shares. Central Desktop Adds Online Diagrams
Pasadena-based Central Desktop, which operates a software-as-a-service, online collaboration product, said this week that it has added new, online diagram support to the service. The firm said the new offering allows users to create flowcharts, org charts and wireframes, as well as other diagrams. The firm is tapping Creately for the new features. Central Desktop is headed by Isaac Garcia, and venture backed by OpenView Venture Partners.

Southwest Airlines Settles On WiFi Pricing
Southwest Airlines said Thursday that it has priced out its wireless Internet services on its fleet, and will initially charge $5 per flight for any device or flight length for WiFi service. Southwest's wireless Internet is being supplied by Westlake Village-based Row 44, which uses satellite connections to connect airplane passengers to the Internet. Amonix Breaks Ground In Vegas
Seal Beach-based Amonix, the maker of concentrated photovoltaic solar power systems, said Thursday afternoon that it has broken ground on a new factory in Las Vegas. According to Amonix, the new plant is expected to begin manufacturing in Q1 of 2011, and is expected to create 278 jobs at the location. Amonix said the new factory will manufacture concentrated photovoltaic solar power systems for installations in Nevada, as well as for export to neighboring states. Sea Launch Exits Chapter 11, Acquired By Russian Firm
Long Beach-based Sea Launch Company, the aerospace firm which offers up an ocean-based space launch platform for rockets, said today that it has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and is now majority owned by a Russian company, Energia Overseas Limited (EOL).
