CyberDefender Gets $5M Line Of Credit
Los Angeles-based CyberDefender, the developer of Internet security software headed by Gary Guseinov, said Monday afternoon that it has scored a $5M line of credit. According to the firm, the loan comes from GR Match, which is an affiliate of Guthy-Renker LLC. The firm said the funding will go towards growing and expanding its direct marketing efforts. CyberDefender asid it will use the funds to pay GR Match itself as part of a media and marketing services agreement between the firms.

Epicor Buys Human Resources Software Firm
Irvine-based Epicor said Monday that it is buying a maker of human resources software, SPECTRUM Human Resource Systems Corporation. Epicor said it is paying approximately $16M in cash for Spectrum, which is based in Denver, Colorado. Epicor said that Spectrum has approximately 100 employees, over 430 direct customers, and another 1800 customers via OEM relationships. The firm also revealed that Spectrum has projected full-year 2010 revenues of approximately $14M.

SpeakTech Acquired By Perficient
Costa Mesa-based SpeakTech, a provider of systems integration and other services, has been acquired by St. Louis-based Perficient. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Perficient said that SpeakTech has approximately $16M in annual revenues. Perficient is a provider of information technology consulting, and has nearly 1400 employees. SpeakTech was headed by Aaron Sloman.

SPK Capital Funds Pharmacy Services Firm
Los Angeles-based SPK Capital, an investment firm, has funded San Francisco-based Pipeline Healthcare, Pipeline said last week. Pipeline said SPK Capital led a $2.5M, Series A funding round for the firm. Pipeline Healthcare is a provider of telepharmacy services to hospitals and retail pharmacies. Frontline Direct Buys Objective Loyalty
San Diego-based Frontline Direct, which is owned by Adconian Media Group, said today that it has acquired Objective Loyalty, a provider of data management and direct marketing solutions. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Frontline Direct is a provider of online marketing, and was acquired by Adconian Media in February of 2008. TrueCar Tops 200,000 Cars Sold
Santa Monica-based TrueCar, the online car pricing site headed by Scott Painter, reports this morning that it has now sold more than 200,000 cars through its online car buying and pricing platform. TrueCar said the number comes less than a year from when it reached an initial, 100,000 car sales, which occurred earlier this year. Evolution Robotics Sees Shortages On Strong Demand
Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics, the robotics technology firm out of Idealab, reports today that its first foray into the commercial market is seeing strong sales demand. The firm said that it has sold out of the firm's newly introduced Mint Automatic Floor Cleaner at some retail locations, and is anticipating limited supplies through the holidays. Blizzard: World of Warcraft Cataclysm Sells 3.3M Copies In 24 Hours
Irvine-based game developer Blizzard Entertainment reports this morning that its newest title, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, has sold 3.3 million copies through its first 24 hours of release. The firm said the sales record makes it the fastest-selling PC game of all time, beating its prior record of 2.8 million copies of its November 2008 release of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Baroda Ups Funding In Fabulis
Los Angeles-based venture capital firm Baroda Ventures, the venture capital arm of GeoCities founder David Bohnett, has re-upped in an investment round in New York-based Fabulis, a gay social networking site. The funding came along with the renaming of the site to Fab.com. Baroda joined in a $1.75M, Series A financing that also included First Round Capital, The Washington Post Company, and Zelkova Ventures.

THQ In Deal With Hellboy Director
Agoura Hills-based THQ announced today that it is in a multi-year deal with the writer and director of Hellboy, Guillermo del Toro, to develop a new trilogy of videogames. THQ said that it is working with Volition Inc. on a new game trilogy called inSANE, where del Toro will act as external creative director. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Gorilla Nation Expands in Montreal
Los Angeles-based Gorilla Nation, which provides online advertising sales for website publishers, said today that it has expanded in Canada, and has opened up a new office in Montreal. According to Gorilla Nation, it has appointed Jean-Sebastien Tremblay as its Director of Sales for Eastern Canada along with the new office opening. The company now has offices in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Scottsdale, Toronto, Montreal, London, Sydney and Melbourne.
