TekTrak Gets Seeded
Los Angeles-based TekTrak, a developer of an iPhone application to help users locate lost a lost iPhone, said Tuesday that it has received a round of seed funding. Amount of the funding was not announced. The firm said investors in the round included Cyan and Scott Banister, Kima Ventures, Sergey Grishin, Wasabi Ventures, PBWorks, BCITL Ventures, Barney Pell of PowerSet, and Yoni Saban. Holiday Spending Hits $23.82 Billion, Monday Another Record Day
The latest numbers from comScore finds that so far this holiday season, U.S. consumers have spent more than $23.82 billion online. That total is up 12 percent versus the same period last year. In addition, Monday spending on December 13th--traditionally, the peak of holiday e-commerce sales days--totaled $954 million, up 12 percent from the $854M in sales in 2009. CapLinked Jumps On Private Ticker Symbols
Manhattan Beach-based CapLinked, the develop of software as a service tools for managing venture and angel fundraising run by Eric M. Jackson, reported Tuesday that it has started allowing companies to register unique "ticker symbols" on its site. The firm said that the symbols, which will be unique to private companies, can be used to identify companies on websites, in tweets, and also on such sites as SecondMarket and Stocktwits. Snowball Factory Gets $500K
Beverly Hills-based Snowball Factory, the startup behind awe.sm, the url shortener and analytics service, tweetpo.st, which updates Facebook from Twitter, and other tools, has raised $500,000 more, according to a recent regulatory filing by the firm. Source of the new funding was not announced by the company, however, Ian Rogers, the CEO of Topspin Media and former GM of Yahoo Music; as well as Mark Suster, a venture capitalist at GRP Partners, both have joined the company's board of directors. Boingo Racks Up 1 Million Miles For Charity
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, the Wi-Fi network operator run by Dave Hagan, said this morning that it has raised 1 million miles for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Boingo said the miles were raised as part of a "Miles of Smiles" campaign it launched on October 1st, where it matched donated airline frequent flier miles, mile-for-mile, from employees, customers, family, and friends. The miles will go towards fulfilling wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Broadcom Targets Android Market
Irvine-based semiconductor maker Broadcom said today, among a number of product announcements, that it has rolled out a new platform targeted at the Android smart phone market. Broadcom said it has announced a new, baseband platform providing HSDPA modem connectivity and Android application processing, specifically geared at developing affordable, 3G Android handsets. RealD Expands In Hong Kong, Shanghai
Los Angeles-based RealD, the provider of 3D movie projection technology, reported today that it has opened up new offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai. The firm said the new offices will handle sales, customer service, and operations for grater China, Southeast Asia, and Korea. RealD said it has named Edman Chan as General Manager of Greater China, Southeast Asia, and Korea to head up the office; Chan has previously served at Eastman Kodak. Conexant Sells Newport Beach Property
Newport Beach-based semiconductor maker Conexant Systems reports today that the firm has sold property adjacent to its Newport Beach headquarters, for $23.5M. According to the company, it sold the property to Uptown Newport LP, a joint venture of DRA Advisors LLC and The Shopoff Group LP. Conexant said the sale would strengthen the firm's balance sheet, and provide it with financial liquidity. Endologix Completes Nellix Buy
Irvine-based Endologix said today that it has completed its acquisition of Nellix, a developer of a medical device for the treatment of Abdominal Aortic Anerysms (AAAs). The acquisition had been originally announced in october. Endologix will pay $15M in stock, plus up to $39M in milestone payments for Nellix. As part of the acquisition, Endologix also said it has closed on a $15M, private placement offering of its common stock.
