The Colbert Report, Daily Show Return To Hulu
Los Angeles-based online video site Hulu.com said Wednesday evening that it has reached a content partnership with Viacom, which will return "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" to Hulu. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Hulu, the deal returns full episodes and clips of the two shows on the free, ad-supported Hulu.com service; the deal also pulls other popular show from Viacom's Comedy Central, MTV, BET, VH1, Spike TV, and TV Land into the Hulu Pl (More info...)

Patrick Soon-Shiong Buys Vitality Corp.
Patrick Soon-Shiong, the Los Angeles area biotech billionaire, has acquired Vitality Corp., a Cambridge, Massachusetts maker of "smart pills." Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to Vitality, the acquisition will enable the company to expand its product line. Vitality makes the "GlowCaps", which light up, play a melody, and ring a home phone to remind users to take their medication. GotCast Wins Playboy
Los Angeles-based GotCast, the online casting site run by Alec Shankman, said Wednesday that it has scored a casting by Playboy. According to the firm, it is helping to promote a casting call for Playboy's Miss Social, an effort which includes a photo shoot with the magazine. GotCast did not disclose any financial details of the win. The online site helps producers and others find talent.

Irvine Sensors Chops Staff
Costa Mesa-based Irvine Sensors, a developer of electro-optical cameras, image processors, and other semiconductor products, said Wednesday that it has cut approximately 19 percent of its workforce. The firm said the move is expected to save the firm around $1.4M in annual expense reductions. The firm said the cuts came to staff "not fully utilized in support of the current product and revenue."

Apriso Wins Bombardier Aerospace
Long Beach-based Apriso has landed aerospace manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace as a customer, the company said this morning. No financial details of the customer win were disclosed. Apriso is a developer of manufacturing management software, used for business process management.

Mad Catz, Microsoft In Licensing Deal
San Diego-based Mad Catz Interactive, a developer of electronic accessories, said this morning that it is in a deal with Microsoft to produce a range of license, co-branded audio headphones. Mad Catz said the license covers Microsoft Xbox 360 brand. The firm said that Mad Catz and Microsoft will jointly design and brand wired and wireless headphones, which will include both Microsoft's Xbox logos as well as Mad Catz's Tritton brand. Verve Wireless Buys Deconstruct Media
Encinitas-based Verve Wireless, which develops mobile applications for local publishers, said today that it has acquired Deconstruct Media, a mobile advertising technology firm. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Verve said that Deconstrcut Media was founded by a team of former Advertising.com product and engineering executives, and offers up a way for mobile publishers to manage their ad sales and display advertising. Cornerstone OnDemand Wins Save The Children
Santa Monica-based Cornerstone OnDemand said today that it has signed up nonprofit Save the Children as a customer. According to Cornerstone, Save the Children is using its talent management software for learning management, employee performance management, and other efforts. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. Cornerstone OnDemand said that the product is being used to manage Save the Children's 5,200 employees around the world.

RealPractice Adds Website, Lead Management Tools
Santa Ana-based RealPractice, the developer of technology and marketing services for law firms that is headed by Carey Ransom, said this week that it has launched new website building and lead management tools for its customers. The firm said the new features allow solo and small law firms to build professional websites, track client leads, and track online and offline marketing campaigns.
