Demand Media Hands Out Big Bonuses
Santa Monica-based Demand Media, the online content publishing empire of Richard Rosenblatt, has handed out some big bonuses to executives, three months after the firm's successful IPO. According to a regulatory filing from the firm, uncovered by paidContent, the company said it elected to fund its bonus pool in "excess of 100% of the target level". UberMedia, 50 Cent Launch UberSocial Theme
Pasadena-based UberMedia, the Twitter client applications firm backed by Idealab, said this week that it has rolled out a new, branded "theme" for the firm's UberSocial for BlackBerry application, crafted by music artist 50 Cent. According to hip hop record label G-Unit Records and UberMedia, the Uber50 theme includes both a free version and deluxe version, which costs $1.99, which includes background art and sounds selected by 50 Cent. NewBlue Joins EvoNexus Incubator
NewBlue, a developer of video editing and effects technology aimed at mobile devices and smartphones, has been accepted into San Diego's EvoNexus technology incubator, the firm said this week.NewBlue said it is working on Vibop, a cloud-based technology to help enable social networking with videos on mobile devices. SaveFans Gets Seeded
Sherman Oaks-based SaveFans, an online, third party marketplace for sports, concert, theatre, and other tickets, has recently scored a round of investment. The firm's first outside round came from angel investor Jamie Kennedy. SaveFans is headed by Wes Brodsky. Amount of the angel funding was not disclosed.

ZPower Raises $64M
Camarillo-based ZPower, a developer of battery technology, appears to have raised $64M, according to a regulatory filing released by the firm Friday. In a filing, the firm said it issued $64M in equity as part of a merger, acquisition or exchange offer. The firm has not announced the details of the transactions, and it's unclear if that $64M in equity is new funding or existing capital in the company, or any details of what that merger or acquisition is about.

Edmunds Launches iPhone App
Santa Monica-based Edmunds, the publisher of automotive information, said Thursday that it has launched a new application for the iPhone. Edmunds said its InsideLine.com application for the iPhone provides automotive information and entertainment, including photos, videos, and car reviews, from the InsideLine.com site. The new app is aimed at car enthusiasts, and is free. The software is available on Apple's App store.

GeekChicDaily Launches LA Newsletter
Los Angeles-based GeekChicDaily, the pop culture newsletter publisher founded by Peter Y. Levin, Mandalay Entertainment Group CEO, former Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO Peter Guber and Wizard World founder Gareb Shamus, said Thursday that it is launching a new, regional edition of its newsletter focused on Los Angeles. Fujitsu Frontech Shifts Manufacturing From Orange County
Foothill Ranch-based Fujitsu Frontech North America, a manufacturer of point-of-sale systems and other products, announced today that it is moving its point of sale manufacturing and integration to Plattsburgh, New York. Impact on employment in Orange County by the firm was not disclosed. Fujitsu Frontech said the consolidation of its manufacturing and supply chain functions will provide it with "operational excellence and service efficiencies".
