iChange Acquired By Herbalife
El Segundo-based iChange, the operator of an online community focused on lifestyle changes, weight loss, and nutrition, has been acquired by Herbalife, according to investor Momentum Venture Management. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. iChange, which was headed by Stu MacFarlane, will be used by Herbalife's independent distributors to provide wellness coaching to clients. Southern California Internet Sites In Top 50 In March
A number of Southern California ranked in the top 50 most visited Internet sites in March, according to the latest, March 2011 numbers released by comScore today. comScore shows Santa Monica-based Demand Media as the highest rank Southern California firm, with 76.5M unique visitors, ranked at number 12. Fox Interactive Media, which includes MySpace, was ranked at 19 with 55.9 million unique visitors. Startups Increase New Job Creation Plans, Says Report
A report released today by Silicon Valley Bank said that 83 percent of startups plan to hire this year, up from 73% of startups that had hiring plans in last year's survey. SVB said its Startup Outlook 2011 survey came from the responses of 375 U.S-based private, venture capital backed software, hardware, life science, and cleantech companies. Emulex Takes Vice Chair At FCIA
Costa Mesa-based Fibre Channel networking equipment maker Emulex said Thursday that it has taken the Vice Chair position at the Fibre Channel Industry Association. Emulex said that Mark Jones, its director of technical marketing at the company, is now Vice Chair of the oganization, an industry group made up of manufacturers, system integrators, and vendors in the Fibre Channel industry.
