YouTube Adds Movie Rentals
Google's online video sharing site YouTube, said today that it has inked a deal to add around 3,000 movie titles for rent through the site, as it looks to broaden its offerings from the amateur, web-based videos its is known for towards more traditional, professional content. YouTube said its online movie service will also offer up short movie trailers, reviews, and behind-the-scene movie extras through the service. TrueCar Adds Black Book Used Car Values
Santa Monica-based TrueCar, the automotive pricing website headed by Scott Painter, has added "Black Book" used car values to the site. According to the company, the new values come via an agreement with National Auto Research, a division of Hearst Business Media. Financial details of the deal between the firms was not announced. Solarflare Sells 10GBASE-T Business
Irvine-based Solarflare has sold its 10 Gigabit ethernet physical layer (PHY) business, the firm said today. According to SOlarflare, it has exited the physical layer PHY business by selling the firm's 10GBASE-T assets to an un-named merchant semiconductor company. Financial terms of the deal, and further details on the specifics of the deal have not been disclosed by the company. Active Network Ties With Sporting Goods Group
San Diego-based Active Network, the provider of sports registration and related web software for the sports and recreation industry, announced today that it has linked up with the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), a group representing the sporting goods industry. iRise Snags SAP Exec
El Segundo-based iRise, which develops enterprise software visualization tools, said today that it has named Ed Lange, former Global Chief Customer Officer for SAP, as a strategic consultant and member of its board of advisors. Lange served at SAP for sixteen years, and also served at Andersen Consulting/Accenture. iRise said the addition of Lange is part of an effort to understand the SAP market. SAP recently became a reseller for iRise.

Stocktwits Inks Content Deal With CNNMoney
San Diego-based Stocktwits, the stock-focused, online social media site headed by Howard Lindzon, has inked a new content deal with CNNMoney, the firm said today. Financial detail fo the deal were not disclosed. Live Nation Launches Joint Venture With Groupon
Los Angeles-based Live Nation Entertainment and daily deals site Groupon are launching a new joint venture, the companies announced today. According to the two, they have created a new joint venture called GrouponLive focused on new online ticketing deals. The companies said that GrouponLive will provide a local resource for Live Nation events and clients of ticketing business Ticketmaster, offering up deals on tickets to concerts, sports, theater, arts, and other live events. Peregrine Semiconductor Updates IPO Filing
San Diego-based Peregrine Semiconductor, the developer of CMOS RF integrated circuits, updated its S-1 filings Friday, saying that it had a net loss of $1.0M on revenues of $21.2M for the three months ended March 26, 2011. Broadcom To Buy Israeli Security Software Firm
Irvine-based Broadcom announced late Sunday that it is acquiring Israeli security software developer SC Square Ltd.. According to Broadcom, it will pay approximately $41.9M in cash for SC Square Ltd. Broadcom said the acquisition would give it an expert team of engineers focused on security, an "essential ingredient" across its platforms. Broadcom said it expects the acquisition to close before June 30th.

Veredezyne Gets New Funding
Carlsbad-based Verdezyne, a developer of renewable fuel and chemical processes, announced this morning that it has scored a new round of funding. Size of the new round was not disclosed. Verdezyne said the investors in the new round of funding included BP Alternative Energy Ventures, DSM Venturing B.V., as well as existing investors OVP Venture Partners and Monitor Ventures. Local.com Completes Rovion Buy
Irvine-based Local.com, which operates a network of local search sites, said today that it has completed its acquisition of Rovion, a provider of rich media advertising. The deal was worth $2.3M in cash, and was originally announced on April 4th. Rovion was a wholly owned subsidiary of DigitalPost Interactive.
