Adconion Gets $34M In Financing
Adconion, which operates an Internet advertising network and related businesses, said earlier this week that it has raised £21 ($34M) in financing from Silicon Valley Bank. Adconion has major operations in Los Angeles. The firm said the funding will go towards acquisition and working capital requirements at the company. RightScale Expands In Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara-based RightScale, the developer of cloud computing software, is expanding its space in Santa Barbara, according to a report. The Pacific Coast Business Times reports that the firm is taking over 26,000 square feet on Gutierrez Street in Santa Barbara, as the firm has grown to over 150 employees worldwide. Scentsa Gets Series A Funding
Carlsbad-based Scentsa, a developer of an out-of-home advertising network, has scored a Series A funding from San Diego private equity fund Huntington Capital, Huntington said Tuesday. Size of the equity funding deal was not disclosed. According to Huntington, the financing round goes to facilitate the deployment of a network of high definition, LCD media screens for out-of-home advertising at Barnes & Noble College bookstores. Active Network Sets IPO Trading Range
San Diego-based Active Network, the operator of online sports registration, team website, and related sports businesses, has set the trading range for its IPO. The firm said in an updated S-1 Tuesday afternoon that it is selling 11,000,000 shares of its common stock in its IPO on the NYSE, with an expected initial public offering price of $16.00 and $18.00 per share. Topanga Technologies Raises $15M
Canoga Park-based Topanga Technologies, a developer of high efficiency, plasma lighting, has scored $15M in new funding, according to regulatory filings from the firm. Details on the funding have not been announced by the company. Topanga Technologies is developing plasma lamps and engines which the firm says exceeds the energy efficiency of LED, flourescent, and other light sources. Los Angeles-based Anti-AgingGames.com, a new startup offering up brain fitness games, has launched today, aiming at healthy people looking to help their memory, concentration, and focus. Google Follows MP3tunes With Music Locker Service
Mountain View-based Google has followed the lead of San Diego-based MP3tunes, and debuted its own "music locker" service today at its Google I/O developer conference. Google's new "Music Beta by Google" is only available to a limited number of customers, however, will allow users to store up to 20,000 songs "in the cloud", streaming those tunes to Android phones or PCs. SUPER HEAT Games Gets $1.6M
Encinitas-based SUPER HEAT Games, a developer of skateboard-themed collectible trading card games, announced this morning that it has raised $1.6M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Diamond Ridge Ventures and DFJ Frontier. As part of the funding, the firm said that Josh Swartz of Diamond Ridge and Scott Lenet of DFJ Frontier will join the firm's board. BUZZMEDIA Tops Facebook On Young Adult Usage
Los Angeles-based BUZZMEDIA, the online entertainment blog and web publisher, is trumpeting its ranking today by comScore as one of the sites with the highest young adult reach. Santa Barbara-based Novacoast, a provider of IT professional services and product development, said Monday that it has acquired Data Technique, a provider of IT services to the Midwest market. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. MaxLinear Gets Design Win
Carlsbad-based MaxLinear, the developer of radio frequency and mixed signal integrated circuits, has scored a design win with a developer of cable TV systems. The firm said that SiliconDust, a developer of HD cable TV systems, has selected its cable TV tuners. Expected shipment volumes of the win were not announced. SiliconDust is using MaxLinear's HXL241SF cable TV tuner in its products.
