ReachLocal Launches Deal Platform
Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal, the online marketing and advertising firm headed by Zorik Gordon, said Thursday afternoon that it has launched ReachDeals, a daily deals syndication platform. ReachDeals is a relaunch of the deal commerce software platform it acquired when it acquired DealOn, a daily deals publisher, in February. Epiomed Therapeutics Gets Series A
Irvine-based Epiomed Therapeutics, a developer of small-molecule, anti-emetic and anti-motion sickness compounds, said this week that it raised a Series A funding round. The firm said the round came from NDI Capital. Financial details of the funding were not disclosed. The firm said the funds will go to develop its lead anti-emetic compound, used to prevent nausea and vomiting.

X1 Technologies Rolls iPad App
Pasadena-based X1 Technologies, the provider of email, desktop, and electronic discovery software, said Thursday that it has launched a mobile app which works with the iPad and iPad 2. The firm said the X1 Mobile Search app is now available on the iTunes App store, and supports the iPhone and iPod. The new version fo the app takes advantage of the high resolution iPad display. EdgeCast Launches File Distribution Software
Santa Monica-based EdgeCast Networks said Thursday that it has launched a new, file distribution product called Download Manager. The new software--aimed at software developers, including desktop games and antivirus software firms--makes it easier for end users to manage file downloads, allowing them to pause, resume, and recover updates and software. EdgeCast said the software will be brandable and customizable by its customers.

MovieClips Gains $6.0M More
Santa Monica-based MovieClips, which provides access to a collection of license movie clips from major studios, has raised $6.0M out of an ongoing, $7.0M funding round. The funding was revealed via a regulatory filing Thursday. No details of the funding have been announced by the company. The filing indicates two investors participated in the new equity round. Report: Activision's Kotick Eyes MySpace
A report today from AllthingsD says that an investor group, which includes Santa Monica-based Activision's Bobby Kotick, is in the last legs of negotiating a deal to acquire MySpace, the beleaguered, once-high flying social network. WebVisible Ties With Publisher Media General
Los Angeles-based WebVisible, which helps small and medium sized businesses place online advertising, said this week that it has inked a deal with newspaper and television publisher Media General. Edmunds.com Offers Up Car Advice Via Twitter
Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com, the online automotive information site, is ramping up its efforts to update its reach to consumers, saying that it has launched a new, real-time car shopping advice service called "EdmundsLive". The company said that the service will help provide live feedback and advice via Twitter while they are shopping for new or used cars. Skinit Scores $12.0M In Debt Funding
San Diego-based Skinit, the provider of personalized protective "skins" for electronic devices, said today that it has raised $12M in a debt financing round. The round came from BlueCrest Capital Finance. Skinit said the funding will go towards continued growth at the firm. Skinit's personalized skins include NFL, MLB, major college and university, Disney, and other designs which can be applied to PCs, smart phones, and other electronic devices. SRS Labs Wins HTC
Santa Ana-based SRS Labs, the developer of audio processing technology, reported today that it has scored a deal with HTC Corporation, to incorporate its technology into HTC's smartphones and media tablet product lines. Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed. SRS Labs' technology provides HD-quality audio and 3D audio effects. SRS already powers HTC's EVO 3D, Thunderbolt, Surround 7, Wildfire S, Desire HD, and HTC Arrive smartphones, in addition to HTC tablets.

Access Scientific Raises $10M
San Diego-based Access Scientific, a developer of vascular access technology, said today that it has completed a $10M, financing round. The round was led by CAC, and also included the firm's prior investors. The firm said the funding will go to commercialize its new produce, the POWERWAND, and also to hiring of a direct sales and clinical force. Access Scientific's CEO is Steve Bierman.

Boingo Wireless Adds Bangkok Airport
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, which operates a global network of Wi-Fi hotspots, said Wednesday that it has launched a managed, Wi-Fi service at Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK). The firm said the coverage comes via an agreement with WLANnet. Boingo said it will manage authentication, sales, and traffic at the location, with WLAnet handling the infrastructure. TowerJazz Ties With DARPA Program
Newport Beach-based TowerJazz, the semiconductor foundry, said today that its subsidiary Jazz Semiconductor has inked a cost-sharing collaboration with DARPA. According to the firm, it is working with DARPA on advancing a roadmap for high frequency SiGe HBT (heterojunction bipolar transistor) devices. The collaboration is part of a DARPA program called GRATE (Gratings of Regular Arrays and Trim Exposures), and also includes a partnership with the University of California, San Diego.
