Causecast Wins Virgin Mobile Canada
Los Angeles-based Causecast, the online, cause marketing firm headed by Ryan Scott, has scored a win with Virgin Mobile Canada and Virgin Unite, the firm said Thursday. The firm said that the two are using its technology to track and reward volunteers, as part of Virgin's RE*Generation program. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. Break Media Ties With Zachary Levi on "Nerd HQ"
Los Angeles-based Break Media, the online video content publisher, said today that it has partnered with actor Zachari Levi, on a set of original videos and events. According to Break, it will product three, original videos starring Levi, as well as a dedicated "Nerd HQ" channel on Break.com. Levi is the star of NBC's "Chuck". SoCal Investors To Benefit, As Pandora Bumps IPO Estimates
Pandora Media, the online personalized radio station service based out of Oakland, has bumped its estimated IPO pricing range this morning, and upped the number of shares it is planning to offer in its IPO. The firm said it will now offer 14,684,000 shares, estimated to price at between $10.00 and $12.00 per share, above the earlier, 13,684,000 shares of stock and $7.00 to $9.00 per share estimated price. Howard Lindzon Backs Embedly
Howard Lindzon, the CEO of San Diego-based StockTwits, has made another angel investment, this time in Embed.ly, a developer of tools that make it easier for web sites to embed content from other web sites. Embed.ly said it raised $450,000 in a new round of funding, which also included Social Leverage, Venture 51, Adam Schwartz, Betaworks, and Chris Sacca. Embed.ly said that StockTwits is one of the firm's customers.

Evolve Media Buys Crowd Ignite
Los Angeles-based Evolve Media, the parent firm of Gorlla Nation and AtomicOnline, said today that it has acquired Crowd Ignite, a developer of a "content exchange" engine which provides content to online publishers. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. Crowd Ignite's content is used to provide content to vertical audiences to drive traffic to websites. Ambit Biosciences Raises $30M
San Diego-based Ambit Biosciences, which is developing cancer treatments, announced this morning that it has raised $30M in Series D-2 round of funding. The funding was led by Apposite Capital LLP, and also included prior investors Perseus-Soros Biopharmaceutical Fund, OrbiMed Advisors, Forward Ventures, Roche Venture Fund, MedImmune Ventures, GIMV, GrowthWorks, Genechem, Radius Ventures, NovaQuest and Horizon Technology Finance.
