Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500™ program honors the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in Los Angeles based on percentage revenue growth from 2006 to 2010. The Los Angeles program also recognizes younger companies as "Rising Stars" based on percentage revenue growth from 2008 to 2010.

What is a Los Angeles Rising Star?

Rising Star is a special award that recognizes fast growing technology, media, telecommunication, life sciences and clean technology companies that have been in business three or four years, and is based on percentage revenue growth from 2008 to 2010. These companies will be recognized as Rising Stars on their way to becoming a Technology Fast 500 winner.

BeachMint Gets $23.5M
Santa MOnica-based BeachMint, the celebrity e-commerce site started by former MySpace founder Josh Berman and Diego Berdakin, said Friday afternoon that it has raised $23.5M in a new funding round. The round was led by Scale Venture Partners and Lightbank. Prior investors New Enterprise Associates, Trinity Ventures, and Anthem Ventures also participated in the new financing round. Tranphorm Raises $25M
Goleta-based Transphorm, the developer of high efficiency power conversion devices for the grid and power conversion market, has just raised $25M as part of an ongoing, $30M fundraising effort, according to a regulatory filing by the firm this week. The company is venture backed by Google, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Foundation Capital, and Lux Capital. Esri Appoints Chief Scientist
Redland-based Esri, the developer of geographic information system (GIS) software, said yesterday that it has named Dawn J. Wright as its Chief Scientist. Wright is professor of geography and oceanography at Oregon State University. Esri said Wright will continue to be associated with the university, but will now also help formulate and advance the firm's intellectual agenda, representing the firm to the national and international scientific community.

Costa Mesa-based SYSPRO, the developer of enterprise resource planning software, reported today that Camarillo-based ZPower, the developer of rechargeable, silver-zinc battery technology, has selected its ERP software for its operations. Financial details of the win were not disclosed.
