Docstoc Sharpens Focus On Small Businesses
Santa Monica-based Docstoc, the online document sharing site headed by Jason Nazar, said Tuesday that it is rebranding the service to focus on small business owners and operators. The firm--which started as a place to share professional documents--said it is looking to become the "premier" online resource for small business owners. Namesake Releases iPhone App
Los Angeles-based Namesake, the real time conversation and discussion site headed by Brian Norgard and Dan Gould, said Tuesday afternoon that it has released its iPhone application. The app--available for free in the Apple App store--allows users to participate in real-time conversations on the iPhone, iPod touc, and iPad. Gaikai Signs Capcom
Los Angeles-based Gaikai said Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with Capcom Entertainment, to stream Capcom's games online. Gaikai--which develops videogame streaming technology--said the deal will allow Capcom to reach a broader audience. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. Gaikai is venture backed by Benchmark Capital, Rustic Canyon Partners, Limelight Networks and Intel Capital.

Buy.com Expands Home Improvement Products
Aliso Viejo-based Buy.com is reporting today that it has "significantly expanded" its selection of home improvement products. The online retailer said it has linked with CPO Outlets, adding thousands of home and outdoor products to the store. Buy.com said the products include lawn care products, tools, compressors, pressure washers, generators, and more. The new listings comes through Buy.com's third party retail listings.

Hulu Plus Hits LG HDTVs
Los Angeles-based Hulu said this morning that it has started rolling out its Hulu Plus subscription service on LG LCD TVs. Hulu said the support is for selected LG LCD TVs, with additional LG devices available in coming weeks. Hulu provides online video streaming services of popular television and cable shows, as well as movies and other content.

StockTwits Adds Social News Rankings
San Diego-based StockTwits, the stock-oriented, social messaging site run by Howard Lindzon, said this morning that it has launched a new, social news ranking feature on the service. The firm said it now allows users to see finance news headlines, ranked by social popularity, based on the number of views of those posts, as well as comments, shares, retweets, and likes. The new feature is available on news stories listed by ticker symbol.

CareFusion Buys German Firm
San Diego-based CareFusion, the developer of infusion pumps and other medical products, reported today that it is acquiring Rowa, a German firm focused on robotic medical storage and retrieval systems. The deal was worth approximately $150M. CareFusion said the buy would help it accelerate its global growth. Rowa has over 300 employees and is based in Kelberg, Germany; it also has operations in Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden.

MaxLinear Names VP and GM
Carlsbad-based MaxLinear, the developer of radio frequency (RF) and mixed signal integrated circuits, said today that it has named Brian J. Sprague as its Vice president and General Manager, Broadband and Consumer Products. Sprague has served at Broadcom, United Technologies, LSI Logic, and other firms. At Broadcom, Prague held such roles as Vice President of Marketing for Broadband Communications and Vice President of the Performance Segement of the Mobile Platforms Group.

Bluepoint Solutions Appoints CTO
Vista-based Bluepoint Solutions, a provider of remote deposit capture and other financial processing software, said today that it has named Robert Graham as its Chief Technology Officer. Graham was most recently Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Farmers and Merchants Bank. He also has served at Unisys.
