RealD Adds 1,000 Screens At AMC Entertainment
Los Angeles-based 3D movie projection technology provider RealD has inked an agreement to expand the number of 3D screens at AMC Entertainment by a thousand screens, the firms said Thursday. According to RealD, it will equip up to 1,000 additoinal screens with RealD's 3D technology, across AMC's theaters in the United States and Canada. BeyondTrust Buys GentleSecurity
Carlsbad-based BeyondTrust, a provider of security software, said today that it has acquired GentleSecurity, a developer of data leak prevention software. According to BeyondTrust, it has expanded its Powerbroker software to include desktop support via the acquisition, and is now providing data leak prevention to desktops for businesses. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

PacketVideo Sues Spotify
San Diego-based PacketVideo, the former unit of Nextwave Wireless which was acquired by NTT DOCOMO, is suing hot online music streaming service Spotify, according to a lawsuit filed in the California Southern District Court in San Diego yesterday. PacketVideo appears to be suing Spotify over patent infringement, over a patent it holds covering the transmission of digital music information over a communications network. Nexus Biosystems Acquired For $79M
Poway-based Nexus Biosystems, a developer of automated compound and sample management equipment for the life sciences industry, has been acquired by Brooks Automation in a deal worth $79M, the firms said earlier this week. According to Brooks, Nexus had trailing twelve month revenue of $36M, for its twelve months ended June 30, 2011. Nexus Biosystems was venture backed by Telegraph Hill Partners.

NBCUniversal Inks Streaming Deal With Amazon
NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution and Amazon.com said Thursday morning that the two have inked a licensing agreement, which will allow Amazon Prime members to stream a select number of Universal Pictures films to their PCs, Macs, and TVs. Financial details of the licensing deal were not disclosed, however, Amazon said the deal will bolster its library to more than 9,000 movies and TV shows available through its Prime video service. Virgin Galactic Names CFO
Pasadena-based Virgin Galactic, the commercial spaceflight firm owned by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group and its partners, said today that it has named Kenneth H. Sunshine as its CFO. Sunshine was previously CFO at MDA Information Systems, and also has served at the National Institute of Aerospace, Aurora Flight Sciences, Orbital Science Corporation, and Draper Laboratories. Luxury Link Adds Travelocity Founder To Board
Los Angeles-based Luxury Link said Wednesday that it has added Terry Jones, the founder of Travelocity, to its board of directors. The firm provides online travel services geared at five star and other upscale hotels. Luxury Link is headed by Drew Marich. Jones founded Travelocity in 1996, and served as President and CEO until 2002. Adconion Ties With TRUSTe
Santa Monica-based Adconion Direct, the performance-based advertising unit of Adconion Media Group, said yesterday that it has linked with TRUSTe on an ad-privacy effort. Adconion Direct said it will use TRUSTe's OBA compliance platform to ensure brand safety and adherence to self-regulation requirements for ad privacy.
