Del Mar Datatrac Acquired By Ellie Mae
San Diego-based Del Mar Datatrac, a developer of mortgage origination software, has been acquired by Ellie Mae, in a deal worth $25.2M. Ellie Mae said the buy will expand the firm's customer base, and broaden the functionality of its own software. The deal is split between $17.2M in cash at closing, plus future cash payments of $3.0M, $3.0M, and $2.0M over the next three years. Facebook Competitor Altly Becomes Anybeat
Altly, the startup headed by Dmitry Shapiro which is developing an alternative to Facebook, said Monday that it has renamed the firm to AnyBeat.com. The new name was not a surprise, as Shapiro had said the company would be renaming itself before launch. Brighter Raises $8M More
Santa Monica-based Brighter, the dental care and referrals business started by Jake Winebaum, the founder of Business.com, has raised $8M more in a Series B funding round, the firm said Monday. The round was led by Benchmark Capital, and also included Mayfield Partners. Mayfield had invested $5M in the firm in January. The firm said the funding will go towards growth at the company. Nettle Gets $500K From Google, Others
La Jolla-based Nettle, a semi-stealth mode firm which says it is creating a "next-generation social/local/mobile application and website for the global entertainment market", has raised $500,000 in a seed funding. According to the firm, the round was led by Google Ventures, and also included Advancit Capital, 500 Startups, and angel investors including former executives of eBay and Qualcomm. Serious Business Get Funded For Internet Entertainment
A trio of United Talent Agency execs said Friday that they have launched a new, media company focused on the intersection of Internet and entertainment. According to Serious Business, it has raised a second round of seed funding from Brave New Ventures to fund the effort. Amount of the investment was not disclosed. VIZIO Licenses Patents
Irvine-based VIZIO, the manufacturer of LCD HDTVs, said Friday that it has licensed its patent portfolio to firm E & S International. Financial details of the patent license were not announced. The company said the licensing concludes patent actions brought by VIZIO against E & S International. VIZIO has a number of patent lawsuits in motion against other digital TV firms.

Google Buys Motorola Mobility For $12.5 Billion
Search engine giant Google said this morning that it has acquired Motorola Mobility, to bolster its Android efforts. Acccording to Google, it will pay $12.5 billion in cash, or $40.00 per share, for Motorola Mobility. Motorola Mobility has been developing Android technology. Citrix Launches iPad App
The Santa Barbara-based online services division of Citrix Systems said today that it has launched a new, iPad app, Citrix GoToManage, on the Apple App Store. The new app works with the firm's GoToManage Remote Support and GoToAssist Express services, allowing IT professionals and consultants to provide IT support from anywhere using their iPad. Local.com Names Marketing VP
Irvine-based Local.com announced this morning that it has appointed Lori Chavez as its new Vice President of Marketing. Chavez joins the company from Westfield, the shopping mall developer. Chavez also has served at Jones Lang LaSalle, Elementbars.com, and Equity Office Properties. Local.com operates a network on online websites which market local businesses. Peregrine Semi Ramps Production
San Diego-based Peregrine Semiconductor, the developer of radio-frequency integrated circuits (RFICs), is ramping the production of its RF switching products, according to the firm and its fab, MagnaChip Semiconductor. The two said that MagnaChip has ramped Peregrine's RF switch products to mass production on MagnaChip's UltraCMOS SOS Silicon-On-Sapphire (SOS) technology.
