UberMedia Extends Uber50 To Android
Pasadena-based UberMedia, the developer of Twitter client software, has extended its custom theme from artist 50 Cent to the Android platform, the company said Friday. UberMedia--which had launched a BlackBerry theme from 50 Cent in April and iPhone version in June--said its latest theme for its UberSocial app for Android now supports Uber50 for Android, a specially designed theme made by 50 Cent for fans. Gumiyo Sees Surge From Hurricane Irene
Woodland Hills-based Gumiyo, the mobile publishing software firm led by Shuki Lehavi, reported this week that it saw a surge in mobile traffic due to Hurricane Irene. Gumiyo said its newspaper customers on the East Coast saw a bump of up to 300 percent in their mobile traffic due to the hurricane, as residents in the affected areas sought out information. CODA Opens 'Experience Center' in LA
Los Angeles-based CODA Holdings, the developer of electric vehicles, said Thursday that it has opened up a new "Experience Center" at the Westfield Century City Shopping Center. CODA said the new consumer store includes an "Electric Vehicle Bar", information about its technology, and a way to sign up for test drives, which will be run from the parking garage directly below the store. Zynx Health Appoints Two VPs
Los Angeles-based Zynx Health, the developer of clinical decision support software, said this week that it has named two VPs. The firm said Bill O'Connor, MD has been named Senior Vice President of Global Product Management and Marketing, and David Cerino has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. O'connor was previously at Allscripts, and also has served at McKesson Corporation. Cerino was previously at Microsoft, Orbitz, and Farelogix.

AeroVironment Gains $16M Order
Monrovia-based AeroVironment, the maker of unmanned aircraft systems, said late Thursday that it has received a $16M order for its Raven Unmanned Aircraft Systems. AeroVironment said the order comes from an existing contract with the U.S. Army, and will go towards logistics support for its systems. AeroVironment's Raven UAV is being used for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition by the military.

Car Town Maker Opens Tokyo Office
Long Beach-based Cie Games, the maker of the Facebook game Car Town, said this week that it hsa opened up a new office in Tokyo. The firm said its new office comes as it has expanded to Japan with a new, Japanese version of the Car Town Game. The new title is Car Town Japan, which has debuted on DeNA's mobile social network, Mobage. The firm said the title has been localized and translated to appeal to the Japanese mobile market.
