Active Network Wins Triathlon
San Diego-based Active Network said Monday afternoon that it has been selected by Tri-California Events, as the triathlon's "technology provider of choice". Financial details of the win were not disclosed. Active Network said Tri-California is the operator of the largest, multi-day triathlon in the world, the Avia Wildflower Triathlons Festival. Active Network's products are used for managing race registrations, marketing, and other activities.

Lantronix Names New CFO
Irvine-based Lantronix has named a new Chief Financial Officer, the company said Monday, naming Jeremy Whitaker to the position. Whitaker returns to the company from Mindspeed Technologies, where he had been Vice President and Corporate Controller. Whitaker actually had been Vice President of Finance and Accounting for Lantronix from August 2005 until January of this year. Advertise.com Plans Hiring Boost
Lousy economy? No one hiring? Don't tell that to Sherman Oaks-based Advertise.com, the online advertising network run by Daniel Yomtobian. The firm said today that it is planning to grow its workforce by as much as 30 percent over the next two quarters, due to "significant growth" in online ad spending. Twentieth Century Fox Inks Deal With Amazon
Twentieth Century Fox has inked another streaming media deal, this time with Amazon.com. Amazon.com said this morning that it has licensed a selection of Twentieth Century Fox's movies and TV shows to stream to its Amazon Prime customers. Financial details of the licensing deal were not announced. Amazon's Prime service combines free shipping and video streaming for Amazon customers. OneRoof Energy Lands $50M
San Diego-based One Roof Energy, a developer of residential solar installation services and products, announced this morning that it has raised $50M in a financing round, from a Korean corporate conglomerate, Hanwha International. According to One Roof Energy, the funding will go towards launching its residential solar leasing program. Entropic Boosts Zenverge
San Diego-based Entropic Communications has led a strategic investment in a developer of media encoding and decoding chips, Zenverge. According to Zenverge, which is based in Cupertino, it has raised $20.5M in a Series D funding, led by Entropic. The round also included CID Group, Woodside Fund, DCM, Norwest Venture Partners (NVP), Motorola Mobility Ventures, and Battery Ventures. Elevation Pharmaceuticals Pulls In $17M, Names Execs
San Diego-based Elevation Pharmaceuticals announced today that it has drawn down a $17M, tranched Series A financing for the company, and also appointed a number of executives. The company also said it has named Jaisim Shah as Senior Vice President and Chief Business officer, and named Pravin Soni as Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer. Vantage Media Merges With BrokersWeb
El Segundo-based Vantage Media, the provider of performance marketing and online advertising services, announced today that it has merged with Miami-based BrokersWeb, a provider of pay-per-click advertising. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, and the two firms also did not discuss the structure of the transactions. Vantage Media said the buy would accelerate its vertical expansion.

Edmunds.com Updates Android App
Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com, a provider of online car pricing information and other automotive content, said Friday that it has updated its Android application. The company said the app now includes used car pricing information, and allows for more thorough research on both new and used cars. The app now includes car pricing, specifications, photos, inventory search, and other features.

Verdezyne Names CFO
Carlsbad-based Verdezyne, the venture backed producer of renewable chemical and fuels, announced today that it has named a new Chief Financial Officer. Verdezyne said Brian Conn has been named CFO, and Steve Jackson, the firm's current CFO and COO, has been named Chief Operations Officer. Conn was previously CFO of MicroIslet, and also served at Chemicon International and Serologicals Corporation. Jackson has been Veredezyne's COO and CFO since 2008.
