PriceGrabber Sees Surge In Video Game, Sporting Goods Shopping
Los Angeles-based PriceGrabber, the online shopping comparisons website, reported Monday that the areas with the biggest increase in traffic Sunday from online shoppers were video games and sporting goods. The firm said it saw a 56 percent increase in traffic for video game products, and a 32 percent in sporting good interest Sunday, with overall traffic increase of 18 percent across all categories. NewEgg Deal Glitches Google Offers
A promotional deal by City of Industry-based NewEgg briefly crippled Google Offers this morning, after Google offered $40 to spend at NewEgg for only $20. The offer--which rapidly sold out this morning--apparently caused lots of issues for prospective buyers, according to widespread Twitter messages. Southern California-based NewEgg is an over $2 billion in sales retailer of computer products, consumer electronics, and other merchandise. The offer looks to have sold out in less than an hour. Aurrion Gets $13.9M DARPA Contract
Goleta-based Aurrion, a developer of silicon photonics fabrication technology, reported today that it has been awarded $13.9M in a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contract. Mota Motors Names Exec
Venice, California-based Mota Motors, which provides online vehicle certification and selling software platforms, said today that it has named Ken Potter as its Chief Revenue Officer. Potter had previously served at CarsDirect.com, where he had been VP and GM of Automotive for ten years. Potter also served at General Manager at CarMax. Mota's service is working on a platform to provide used car sellers and dealerships with certification of those vehicles.

Black Friday Sales Up 26 Percent To $816M, Says Report
Online retailers saw a surge in sales Friday, according to the latest numbers from comScore, seeing $816M in online sales, a 26 percent increase over last year's Black Friday. comScore said it tracked more than 50 million Americans visiting online retail sites on the traditional opener to the holiday spending season. Myricom Aims Product At Trading, Cybersecurity
Arcadia-based Myricom, the provider of high speed clustering and networking adapters, announced this morning that it has shipped a new, 10-Gigabit Ethernet network adapter specifically aimed at the cybersecurity and high frequency trading market. Buy.com Claims Records Thanksgiving, Black Friday Sales
Aliso Viejo-based Buy.com, the online retailer now owned by Rakuten, said Friday that it had record sales for both Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Buy.com said it saw double digit growth in sales for the two days, mostly from its Buy.com third party marketplace. Actual sales figures and growth was not announced by the firm. Outcast Supports Distracted Driving Campaign
Santa Monica-based Outcast Media, the operator of out-of-home advertising and content networks, reported today that it has partnered with the U.S. Department of Transportation, on a distracted driving campaign. Outcast said it will include a PSA for the "One Text or Call Could Wreck It All" campaign on its Pumptop TV network, which broadcasts content and advertising to over 12,000 gas stations nationwide.
