Nexicore Services Sold To Avnet
Simi Valley-based Nexicore, a provider of consumer electronics and conmputer repair and installation services, said Monday that it has agreed to sell substantially all of its assets, andits parent company, Hardcord Computer Group Inc., to Avnet. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, Nexicore said the sale came out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Specific Media Ties With Advertising Analytics Firm
Irvine-basd Specific Media, the online advertising network which also owns MySpace, said Monday that it has tied with Nielsen Catalina Solutions, which measures advertising performance. The firms said they have launched a new product called Shopper Access, which is aimed at reaching shoppers in the consumer packaged goods category via display and video ads. Qualcomm Backs Femtocell Firm Ip.access
San Diego-based Qualcomm has made another investment in femtocell and picocell technology developer ip.access, as part of a new round of funding. According to ip.access, it raised $15M from investors Amadeus Capital Partners, Cisco, Intel Capital, Qualcomm, Rothschild & Cie Gestion, Scottish Equity Partners and TE Connectivity. Superconductor Technologies Shifts HQ To Texas
Santa Barbara-based Superconductor Technologies, which was founded in 1987 in Santa Barbara and develops high temperature superconducting materials, is moving its headquarters out of the state, to Texas. Machinima, THQ Team To Promote Nexuiz
Machinima, the Los Angeles animated videogame content developer and publisher, and Agoura Hills-based game developer THQ said today that they have teamed on a new, downloadable shooter game called Nexuiz. CapLinked Tops $12 Billion In Deals Hosted
Manhattan Beach-based CapLinked, the developer of a service to help companies manage their fundraising activities and investors, has tallied up its deals for the last few months, saying Friday that it has now topped over $12 billion in deals hosted on the service. The firm said that, as of November it had $12 billion in deals being managed through the service, up from $4 billion in June. THQ Chops 30
Agoura Hills-based THQ, the developer of videogames, has cut 30 of its staff, due to poor performance of its uDraw tablet for the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3. The cuts were due to "weaker than expected" sales of the gaming accessory.

Sony Launches New Naughty Dog Title
Sony Computer Entertainment America said today that it has launched a new title from videogame studio Naughty Dog. Sony said its new title, The Last of Us, is themed around a "population decimated by a modern plague". Naughty Dog, which is based in Santa Monica, is best known for creating the Crash Bandicoot series of games. The studio also creaked the Jak and Daxter franchises and UNCHARTED.

Irvine-based Quality Systems, the developer of healthcare information systems, reported this morning that it has acquired a provider of electronic data interchange (EDI) products, ViaTrack Systems. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Tops $1 Billion In Sales
Santa Monica-based Activision Publishing said this morning that its new title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, has just topped $1 billion in sales. Activision Publishing, which is a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, said it took only 16 days for the company to hit the milestone. Activision compared its own sales rate to Hollywood, saying that its sales now rival that of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters.
