Mobile Roadie Powers Hotel and Nightclub Brand Sbe
Los Angeles-based Mobile Roadie, the mobile app developer, is powering a new mobile app from hotel and nightlife operator Sbe, the firm reported today. Sbe--which is owned by Sam Nazarian and operates hotels and nighclubs in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and is expanding into New York, Miami, Houston, and Las Vegas--is using Mobile Roadie's app to connect with its customers in combination with a big billboard advertising campaign. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.

HipGeo Launches Updated iPhone Travel Blogging App
Fullerton-based HipGeo, the location tracking and social sharing software developer headed by Rich Rygg, has launched a new iPhone app, looking to help users track, document, and share their travels. HipGeo said its new app is a "complete redesign" of its platform, and is aimed at letting mobile phone users post text, places, and photos of their travels. Tealium Gets $1.1M
San Diego-based Tealium, a startup developing software which automatically loads tags onto web pages, said Tuesday that it has raised $1.1M in its Series A financing. The round came from angels Jeff Lunsford (Limelight Networks), Jim MacIntyre (Visual Sciences/WebSideStory), Joe Apprendi (Collective), John Vincent (EyeWonder), and Thomas Falk (eValue Group). PriceGrabber Releases Deal Aggregation App
Los Angeles-based PriceGrabber has launched a new app for the iPhone this morning, looking to help consumers sort through the huge pile of local daily deals out there. PriceGrabber said the new, free app--DealGrabber--allows users to find deals from such sites as Groupon, LivingSocial, Restaurant.com, Gilt.com, along with other local deal sites. Cool Planet BioFuels Starts Road Testing
Camarillo-based Cool Planet Biofuels, the cellulosic biofuels developer backed by BP, Shea Ventures, General Electric, Google Ventures, ConocoPhillips, NRG and North Bridge Venture Partners, announced today that it has received approval from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to begin fleet-testing its low carbon gasoline. CapLinked Adds $500K
Manhattan Beach-based CapLinked has scored another $500,000 in angel funding, for the firm's online software for managing capital raising activities. The new funding came from angels Clark Landry, Lok Lee, Stephan Paternot, Jason Portnoy, Alexsis de Raddt-St. James, and Chris Yeh. CapLinked is headed by Eric Jackson and Christopher Grey. Slacker Launches App For Android Tablets
San Diego-based personalized radio streaming firm Slacker and Verizon unveiled a new, Android Tablet version of the company's personalized radio app Wednesday. Slacker and Verizon said that Slacker's new Slacker Radio application has been optimized for Android tablets and Verizon's 4G LTE connections. Payoff.com Ups Funding To $5.8M
Los Angeles-based Payoff.com, the online personal finance site headed by Scott Saunders, has confirmed it has raised $2.0M in a venture round today, upping its total raised for the company to $5.8M. The funding came from Anthemis Group, Firstmark Capital, Great Oaks Venture Capital, and others. Arena Pharmaceuticals Gets $33M In PIPE
San Diego-based Arena Pharmaceuticals, which is developing weight loss and other drugs, said this morning that it has raised $33M in a financing. The publicly held firm said the Series D funding round came from Deerfield Management, a healthcare investment organization. $5M of the proceeds are going to prepay loan prinicipal.

Boingo Wireless Inks Mall Deal
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, the Wi-Fi network operator, announced today that it has inked a deal with a shopping mall operator, Glimcher Realty Trust, to power Wi-Fi networks at the company's Glimcher shopping centers. Boingo said it will manage Wi-Fi services at 18 Glimcher regional shopping centers. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.

Iteris Lands $706,000 Order
Santa Ana-based Iteris, which develops traffic management products for the transit industry, reported a $706,000 order for its video detection equipment today. The firm said the order came from Comet Electric, Inc., for a bus rapid transit system in San Bernardino and Loma LInda. Iteris said its products are being used as part of an upgrade of intersections along a 15.7 mile bus corridor.
