Gobbler Gets $7.5M
Los Angeles-based Gobbler, an online media storage service focused on media creators, has raised $7.5M in funding, the firm said this week. The round came from ff Venture Capital, Black Ocean Group, Aber Whitcomb, Dan Rose, Mike Jones, Jermey Wenokur, Matt Coffin, as well as others. Gobbler provides services to back up, organize, and transfer media files like music and video. The firm is headed by Chris Kantrowitz. Gobbler was previously known as Media Gobbler.

BUZZMEDIA Hires Music VP
Los Angeles-based BUZZMEDIA, the pop culture and music blog publisher which runs such sites as Celebuzz, Sterogum, Buzznet, and Idolator, announced today that it has hired Bill Jensen as Vice President/General Manager of Music. Make It Work Launches Membership Program
Santa Barbara-based Make It Work, the in-home technical support and services firm headed by Eric Greenspan, told its customers Monday that it has launched a brand new, membership program called MIW Digital Advantage. The company said the $99 per year program will provide promotional pricing on its services, free phone support, free service hours for every 10 appointments, and more. Hulu Launches Super Bowl AdZone
Los Angeles-based Hulu said this morning that it is again kicking off its Hulu AdZone, ahead of Super Bowl XLVI, to allow users to view and vote on Super Bowl ads. The section of the Hulu site will feature both this year's Super Bowl ads, as well as a archive of Super Bowl ads from as early as 1973 to preview ads from this year. Active Network Sets Global Sales Exec
San Diego-based Active Network, the operator of a number of sports related registration and sports events management websites, said yesterday that it has named Kevin Biggs as its Executive Vice President of Global Technology Sales. Buy.com Names Marketing Chief
Aliso Viejo-based Buy.com, the online Internet retailer, said today that it has named Bernard Luthi as its new Chief Marketing Officer. Luthi comes to the company from NewEgg.com, where he was Vice President of Marketing, Web Management, and Customer Service. Luthi also served at PC Mall and Ingram Micro. WD Reports Progress On Flood Recovery
Irvine-based Western Digital Corp., the maker of disk drives, has given an update on its operations, saying last night that it now believes it will restore its manufacturing capacity to pre-flood capability by the quarter ending September 2012. WD had been severely hit by the floods in Thailand, which resulted in the shutdown of a number of its factories. BP Logix Wins Healthcare Cost Management Firm
San Diego-based BP Logix, a developer of business process management software, reported today that it has signed healthcare cost management services firm MultiPlan as a customer. Size of the deal was not announced. BP Logix said MultiPlan is using its software to centralize its capital expenditure and major expenditure requests processes.
