Oversee.net Names Domeyer As CEO As Morrow Departs
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net said Friday that it has named Debra Domeyer as its CEO. Domeyer, who was Co-CEO, takes over the position after fellow Co-CEO Scott Morrow leaves the firm. According to Oversee.net, Morrow is leaving to "pursue other interests". Domeyer and Morrow had both been named to the co-CEO positions in January. Cyber Rain Finds New CEO
Los Angeles-based Cyber Rain, the venture backed developer of smart irrigation controllers, has tapped an entrepreneur known for making waterless urinals ubiquitous in the US and around the world, as its new CEO. The firm has named James Krug, former founder and CEO of Falcon Waterfree Technologies, to head up the company's smart irrigation controller business. DreamHost Planning Software Spinout
Los Angeles-based hosting provider DreamHost, the provider of web hosting and managed hosting services, is planning a new, open source software spinout, the firm revealed this week, as it looks to leverage its work on the Ceph open source project for distributed storage. Report: Machinima Seeking $50M In Funding
Los Angeles-based online content producer Machinima, which produces videogame related content for YouTube, is reportedly seeking $50M in funding, at a $200M to $250M valuation, according to reports today. The firm, which is led by Allen DeBevoise, publishes videos online related to video games, video game news, and entertainment. Report of the fundraising was leaked by PandoDaily, in a scathing post criticizing the quality of Machinima's content.

FreeConferenceCall.com Expands Into Mexico
Long Beach-based FreeConferenceCall.com, a provider of free, conference calling services, reported Thursday that it has rolled out its services in Mexico. The company said the extension of its service in Mexico is the first in Latin America for the firm. Luxtera Ties With STMicroelectronics
Carlsbad-based Luxtera, the developer of CMOS-based, optical networking chips, said Thursday that it has inked a deal with STMicroelectronics, where the two will apply Luxtera's IP and knowledge to a dedicated process at STMicroelectronics' 300mm facility in Crolles, France, to enable high volume production of silicon photonic components. Edison Mission Energy Spins Out Wind Energy Firm
Santa Ana-based Edison Mission Energy, which is a subsidiary of utility Edison International, said Thursday that it has tied with TIAA-CREF and Cook Inlet Region Inc, to form a new company to invest in wind energy projects in North America. The firm said the new company, Capistrano Wind Partners, will invest in a portfolio of U.S. wind projects, including projects in Wyoming, Texas, and Nebraska. SureToMeet's Cliff Allen Passes Away
Cliff Allen, the founder of Los Angeles online event registration site SureToMeet, has passed away, according to friends and family. Allen passed away at the age of 63, due to complications following a lengthy battle with brain cancer. SureToMeet was a startup offering an online event registration service, which was used by a number of local Los Angeles networking and technology groups to register users and help with business networking.
