Hulu Signs Global Distribution Deal
Los Angeles-based Hulu has inked a deal to distribute its original content to the international market, the firm said Monday, in a deal with FremantleMedia Enterprises. Hulu said the deal calls for FremantleMedia to handle distribution rights to its original content internationally, including distributing the content over traditional media. Factual Team With Geoloqi
Santa Monica-based Factual and location-based, analytics and services provider Geoloqi said over the weekend that Factual will enhance enhance Geoloqi's location data and analytics offering with its data. AeroVironment Gets $11.1M Order
In another military contract win, Monrovia-based AeroVironment, the maker of unmanned aircraft for the military, reported that it has scored an $11.1M order. According to AeroVironment, the win goes for logistics support for its RQ-11B Raven Small Unmanned Aircraft System, from the United State Army. The Raven is a 4.2 pound, hand-launched UAV used by the military for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition. The contract runs through February 28, 2013. Masimo Buys Spire Semiconductor
Irvine-based Masimo, the developer of pulse oximetry devices, said today that it is acquiring substantially all of the assets of Spire Semiconductor, a maker of light emitting diode (LED) and other components, which are used in biomedical applications. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. HemaQuest Pharmaceuticals Gets $13M
San Diego-based HemaQuest Pharmaceuticals said today that it has raised $13M in a Series B funding. The firm, which is developing small molecule therapeutics for treating hemoglobin disorders such as sickle cell disease, said the funds come in the form of a Series B extension, coming from existing investors Aberdare Ventures, De Novo Ventures, Forward Ventures, Latterell Venture Partners and Lilly Ventures. Allylix Raises $18.2M
San Diego-based Allylix, developer of chemicals used for the flavor and fragrance, food, cosmetics, and other markets, has raised $18.2M in a funding round, according to lead investor BASF Venture Capital GmbH. Invested.in Hooks Into AngelList With Crowdcelerator.com
Los Angeles-based Invested.in, the developer of web-based software for managing crowd funding efforts, has connected its service into the popular AngelList service, saying last week that it is launching Crowdcelerator.com, a new service which uses AngelList's API to help startup companies raise funds and close their fundraising rounds. Vitesse Selected By FibroLAN
Camarillo-based semiconductor provider Vitesse is reporting a design win today, saying that FibroLAN is using its chips for a mobile backhaul product. Vitesse said that its Carrier Ethernet Switch Engine and quad-port, 1G PHYS are being used as part of an Ethernet Access Device (EAD) for the Metro Ethernet market. Nirvanix Wins National Geo
San Diego-based Nirvanix, the cloud storage service provider, is powering the backup and archive operations for National Geographic, the firm said today.
